The Beatles and The Boss - Bruce Springsteen are our B people today.
One of the Greatest things or bands to come out of the United Kingdom was The Beatles, Princess Diana, and David Beckman, James Bond, Austin Powers and Mr. William Shakespeare but the Beatles are truly unique.
The origination of this 4 member band began in 1957 with John Lennon at the age of 17 and a band that played skiffe, jazz and blues of which he formed named The Black Jacks who almost immediately changed their names to the Quarry Men made up entirely of classmates from the Quarry Bank Grammar School in Liverpool. That summer of 1957, 15 year old Paul McCartney, a self taught left-handed guitar player auditioned and began playing with the band in October 1957. In February 1958 John Lennon had started to play rock n roll and their banjo player left. This gave Paul McCartney the opportunity to invite his friend and former classmate George Harrison. Quarry Men broke up in 1959 but Lennon and McCartney continued their songwriting while Harrison joined another band. In 1962 drummer Pete Best left and thus entered Ringo Starr. In September 1962, The Beatles had their first single released "Love me do" which reached #17 in the United Kingdom. Almost 2 years later it was the #1 hit in the US. In 1964 The Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show with an estimated 73 million viewers, it was at this moment Beatlemania was created. And as they say the rest in history.
The Boss - Bruce Springsteen gets honorable mention today. Born Bruce Fredrick Joseph Springsteen on September 23,1949 in New Jersey. Bruce took up music at the age of 7 after seeing Elvis Presley perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. The "Boss" is an American singer / songwriter and his most successful studio albums "Born to Run" and "Born in the USA" epitomize his finding the best in the daily struggles of American life. He has sold more than 65 million albums in the United States and over 120 million worldwide.
Here are other great music performing B's that I came up with, if you can add to the list please donate a comment and we'll get it posted for all to see. Beach Boys, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Bay City Rollers, B,B. King, Barbara Streisand or Babs, and Garth Brooks. Of all the bands mentioned today, I've only had the pleasure of seeing The Beach Boys and Garth Brooks in live concert. Strangely enough I witnessed Garth Brooks in performing in England. The Beach Boys are also mentioned personally in the novel - MY BAD TEQUILA.
