Lots of things fine and not so cool episodes to write about for my trusted, intelligent and thoughtful readers. Yep, I’m smearing it on real good this month, because I love YOU all and it has been a great August here in the Scottsdale, Arizona area with lots of rain and even a few days that did not make it into the triple digits. GREEN is the word of my surroundings - very GREEN and Beautiful!
I’ll begin with something lighthearted and fun. I just now saw this posting from my San Carlos / Tucson Amigo - Mr. Abby Cady: “Dwight Yoakam in town tonight. At the historic Fox theatre and it will be an awesome concert. Having a Asahi beer with a saki chaser at sushi on a roll. Downtown Tucson rocks.” And wouldn’t you know it, a pleasant memory was brought to my frontal lobe reminding me of when I saw Mr. Dwight Yoakam in 2010 or 2011. Well, here is the story.
I saw Dwight in Silver Legacy Resort Casino Reno, Nevada 2 nights in a row; First night, he was drunk off his ass and could hardly sit upon the stool; He didn't do his cool leg wiggle when singing "Fast as You," so I started dancing my way up to the stage, crowd started going wild, next thing I know I'm grabbed by security and being thrown out. People are throwing shit at the security guards to let me go. They were cool when I told them what was going on. Then went the next night and Dwight put on a Hellava Great Show with dancing, wiggling legs. The following day, my Amigo RC and I caught a taxi to the airport to rent a car to drive to Lake Tahoe and spend the day on the beach. The taxi driver keeps looking at me in his rear view mirror and says, “I think I know you. You look awfully familiar” A few minutes later he blurts out, “You’re the guy we kicked off the stage 2 nights ago at Dwight Yoakam concert, I was one of the security guards that let you go.” I tell him, Yep, that was me and we share a laugh & Oh Yeah, by the way, I was with Rich Collins that historic night! Amigas & Amigos, most of You did not get to see this on the Golf Course as it was a Sponsored Golf Hole for the Parrot Grande Tourney at The Falls at the Pointe Hilton Tapitio Cliffs. It included a picture of performers Mark Mulligan, Kelly McGuire, Sam Rainwater, along with the Bieb aka Justin Bieber, The Boise State Blue Elvis aka Rico Austin, Alice Cooper, Blu Kaboy Bobblehead Doll with two of Rico’s books, “My Bad Tequila” & “In the Shadow of ELVIS,” Abby’s dog, Gordie RIP, and Cabo Wabo Tequila.
Also performing at Parrot Grande 2014 was Bob Karwin and he put on an afterhours show privately for a few Parrotheads, CRAZY, CRAZY! Great show by headliners Mexico Mark Mulligan and Kelly McGuire and opening act – Amigo Sam Rainwater. Mark & Sam just happen to be my neighbors in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico; therefore, I am one lucky, righteous, cool dude that has the opportunity to hear them many times throughout the year. Okay, now back to some current events, we’ll take a visit to Missouri where the locals are rioting, stealing and vandalizing store owners and property owners that had nothing to do with the police shooting of Michael Brown. The St. Louis suburb of Ferguson with population of 21,000 is in havoc and turmoil by violence as protesters outraged over the 18-year-old's shooting faced off with police, not adhering to a mandatory curfew. Their stories are at the complete opposite spectrum of each other – Michael’s friend, Dorian Johnson, 22 who like Brown was black in race. To me they are Americans not African Americans as they nor their parents, nor their parents' parents have ever set foot on the soil of Africa. I am not a Euro American nor is my wife a Scandinavian American, just because our ancestors came from those areas. In my book, You are either an American, an European, an African, a Mexican, a Colombian, a Russian – but not a combination unless you do indeed have a passport that displays dual citizenship of which Brown nor Johnson had.
At the onslaught of the news it was reported that Michael Brown was an upstanding citizen, grade A student in high school and enrolled to begin college in just a few, short days and then the truth became known thanks to a video camera that Michael Brown was a bullying, thieving thug with no intention of a higher education as lied about by the dishonorable Al Sharpton and having sex with your church members reverend Jesse Jackson. How this all plays out, who knows; but one thing is apparent, those that are looking for any excuse to use the race card as an excuse to steal, riot and vandalize will do so, no matter what the dire situation. The FBI has found a witness that has the same story as the police officer that Michael Brown attacked him and was trying to shoot him in the police car. If Obama had a son ……..
Here is CNN video surveillance shows Michael Brown stealing cigars and shoving the store clerk from a Ferguson, Missouri Quiktrip convenience store just minutes before being fatally shot by officer Darren Wilson. Michael Brown was also be investigated and wanted for a strong arm robbery that had occurred. Doesn’t sound like my kind of model citizen as his family tries to convince the media and public.
Shame on Attorney General Eric Holder who has also played the race card and incited more upheaval and bigotry by saying, “I am the U.S. Attorney General, but more importantly, I am a black man.” WoW – can you say Racism!

Robin Williams RIP, funny man, comedian, actor, father, husband and human took his own life due to depression, a sickness that is hard to diagnose and cure. A disease that the carrier can hide from others. Robin was born July 21st, 1951 in Chicago and left this Earth for Ork on August 11th, 2014 in Tiburon, California, may he find peace on Ork. Mr. Robin Williams came into our living rooms on a television set in the 1980s as Mork from planet Ork on the Mork and Mindy show. He later starred in some great movies such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, One Hour Photo, The Fisher King, Hook, The Birdcage, Awakenings, The World according to Garp are some of my favorites. Why am I in a hurry to get this Blog out tonight, August 27th? It is because Boise State will be opening the college football season on a nationally televised ESPN broadcast versus Ole Miss, the Rebels of University of Mississippi in Atlanta in the Georgia Dome at 5:00 Pacific Standard Time on Thursday, August 28th; This is the first time in several years that Boise State enters the season unranked as they suit up in their football armor against nationally ranked #18 Ole Miss. I am hoping for the best, going against the rest, not thumping my chest and I do not know what zest, my beloved Boise State Broncos possess! The many faces of the Boise State Broncos and Author / Writer Rico Austin are below as well as Robin Williams and Dwight Yoakam.
The ALS aka Lou Gehrig's Disease is a terrible disease and has gained much needed funds through the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
