Author Rico inducted into the Wolf Pack at Piano Bar in Harrah's Las Vegas with Hangover Star - Zack Galifianakis & Baby Carlos!

Many activities of the month past with a big win at the British Open for my favorite golfer in the world – Mr. Phil Mickelson. This was his 5th major and he comes through as a shining knight at King Arthur’s round table after squandering another lead in the U.S. Open just a month prior. I will now place a new nickname for this beloved golfer of whom we never know how great or how much trouble his golf swing will be or find. “Phil the Thrill” has placed 2nd no less than six times in the U.S. Open, so his time may be nigh. What will Phil do next was the big question after his surprise win at the British Open and just a couple weeks prior in his last golf tournament at the Scottish Open takes that trophy as well. The “Thrill” was emotional as he accepted the Claret Jug and gave his acceptance speech. Yes, Phil had us wondering if he would get an English milkshake, hug his wife and kids for the umpteenth time on the green or would he take the invitation of the Queen to have English Tea at Buckingham Palace?
Speaking of Buckingham Palace we now have a new member to the Royal Family of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, okay Will & Kate plus one prince charming = more fun than that other Kate that hates her ex and exploits all eight of her offspring that fortunately look much more like their Daddy Jon than they do their sad, Mommie Dearest. One American family – Kate plus 8 minus one Daddy cost its viewers time lost that they will never be able to retrieve while another British family cost the Britons an estimated 55.5 million per year so that they can travel at a fraction as much as do the “vacationing Obamas” that have amassed a fortune in U.S. travel debt. “According to a new report by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI), President Barack Hussein Obama has spent over twice as many hours on vacation and golf (976 hours) as he has in economic meetings of any kind (474.4 hours).” The report, “Presidential Calendar: A Time-Based Analysis,” used the official White House calendar, Politico’s comprehensive presidential calendar, and media reports through March 31, 2013 to calculate its results.
According to a White House spokesperson this $100 million vacation is listed by the Presidente of the United States as a working vacation to justify bringing along wife, Michelle and daughters Sasha & Malia. Pretty wild stuff - $100 million would according to the Philly Post be enough that “The average family of four could take a vacation to Disney World, stay in a great hotel onsite, enjoy access to all the theme parks and water parks, and eat like pigs for 91 years before they’d spend 100 million bucks. Or, a family of four could buy the best seats in Citizen’s Bank Park and enjoy no fewer than 3,858 years of home games. (Maybe long enough to see another World Series win!)”

Looks as if the Brits have nothing to complain about as they are definitely getting a much better deal with the Royal Family and there’s a new baby to show off. The Americans have to deal with a “Royal Pain in the Ass” with the obamas who may get a new dog to chew up more furniture in the Lincoln room. This reminds me that Justin Beiber and I both want new pet monkeys and we deserve them. I just know that Malia and Sasha will have a pet orangutan before I do – life is full of unfair disappointments, but as Gloria Gaynor sings, “I will survive.”
Special call out for the River Bend Golf Course in Wilder, Idaho – home of a very special Amigo named Steve E. and his family that grew up in the Hop growing community. I’m talking Hops as in helping make beer with barley, grain & hops. Also, a hello to Mickey Rays BBQ in Eagle, ID and the Basque Center held their annual Basque party in downtown Boise. Gotta love those beautiful Basque women and girls.
Almost forgot to mention the ELVIS Festival in Las Vegas at the LVH aka many years ago, Las Vegas Hilton. Never have I believed I would encounter so many fans and Elvis look a likes – many with incredible, talented voices. I was invited to the festival to sell and sign “In the Shadow of ELVIS, Perils of a Ghostwriter” and was able to meet some of Elvis Presley’s oldest lifetime friends Joe Esposito, Jerry Schilling, John Stuart, Sammy Shore and actress playing one of Elvis’ love interests in the hit movie, Blue Hawaii – the talented Ms. Darlene Tompkins.
Yes, ELVIS is alive and well in Las Vegas, VIVA Las Vegas & ELVIS!
Why are politicians held to a lesser point of accountability and standards? I’ve always believed that politicians and leaders should be held to a higher standard of ethics and accountability, but not so again as shown by the antics of the Weiner. Anthony Weiner, former U.S. Congressman from New York City has now been involved with two sexual scandals related to sexting which is sending explicit sexual material by cell phone. Seems Weiner likes to show his leaner weener to women and young ladies. Weinergate led this his resignation in 2011 and I guess he figured that 2 years later he would run for political office again, this time in the form of becoming New York City’s mayor and begin sexting right where he left off, but would send his private parts to more cell phones of women that he had numbers. I do hope that the Yankee, Mets, Giants and Jet fans will vote for a much better choice than Oscar the Mayer weiner and help keep the joke out of the mayor's office and great city.
