This is my first ever having a Guest Blogger. My Amigo from the Boise, Idaho area, Mr. Steve Elliott posted his stance and reasoning behind his not wanting the Minimum Wage hiked up to $15.00 or even close to that amount as it will have severe implications for all of us. So please pay close attention and if You or You know someone that works for minimum wage share this information so that he or she might realize that raising a wage so drastic, quick and high will hurt all of us in many forms of higher prices and phenomenal inflation - two things that America does not need during its recovery.
I believe Steve's comments below to be spot on. Please enjoy and take this warning to heart. And, Yes he is also a Boise State University Bronco Fan and Season Ticket Holder. Maybe that is why are views are so closely linked and we both grew up along the Snake River - 15 miles apart, one in Marsing and the other in Wilder and we never knew each other until 30 years later through business and sharing the same American ideals of Freedom and the Pursuit of Happiness of enjoying life, family and friends. We both know that Freedom doesn't come free and would like to thank all those that have served and are serving in the Armed Forces.
"Just watched a news report about raising the minimum wage to around $15.00 hr. While I wholeheartedly embrace the concept of making more money to better our lives, I am totally against this drastic of an increase.
Here's why.
The majority of businesses affected by this will be fast food places, restaurants, and basically every retail store and service based company in the country. All of these entities will be forced to raise their prices. And wages across the board, not just the minimum. There isn't an option here folks. Trust me on that. So while most folks will get higher wages, they will instantly pay much higher prices everywhere they go. I predict that it will backlash and hurt the economy, not help it. Prices will balloon. Who benefits? Government. Think about it. Sales tax will increase, income tax will increase. Food stamp costs will increase. Gas prices will increase. Again. Why? Because minimum wages just skyrocketed by 66%. So add that amount to: a Big Mac, a pair of shoes, a gallon of gas, a haircut, a loaf of bread.
If you think it won't happen, think again. That's how businesses operate. It's called Capitalism. Careful what you wish for..."
