Funtastic Weekend in Fort Collins, Colorado as Colorado State University hosted my Boise State Broncos at Hughes Stadium; on Saturday, October 10th. Colorado Alumni extraordinaire, Mr. Billy Burt gave me a private tour of Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium & invited my 3 U.S. Army Fort Carson Soldier Amigos & I to his Colorado game day tailgate party on Saturday - one class act! Yes, one of the soldiers is my nephew Tommie Austin of whom I am very proud. He has followed in the footsteps of his Dad, my brother Samuel Austin who retired after 30 years service between the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. Had a great time as I also saw Amigo Les G. who is a dive maniac. He and his wife Molly love to travel the world visiting exotic locales and then scuba diving to see the underworld of the seas.
Amigas & Amigos, I had a great time at HammerHead's Dockside Bar & Grille on Saturday afternoon for Mexico got Lucky book signing! Yes, on the 17th of October before heading out to the awesome ceremony and incredible reception party afterwards of Amigo Jim Kawaguchi and his fiancee turned wife, the lovely Miss Lourdes. This was the first time I’ve ever attended a Mexican wedding even though the Bride and Groom were United States Citizens. It was held in the most adorable, white, Catholic Church in town, officated in Spanish with an English translator. Very thankful that Mr. James Kawaguchi thought enough of Connie and I to invite us as it was a very small wedding with a few friends and family. The reception, with a full Mariachi Band, DJ (Disc Jockey) and another band that played old rock n’ roll was nothing short of spectacular, right on Esmeralda Beach, with air conditioned porta potties on a trailer with musica. It was one fancy fiesta of which I had never seen the likes of. The Margaritas flowed, as soon as my glass was half empty, the waiters would show up with another and another.
The afternoon that led up to Jim and Lourdes wedding evening seemed like a full day in itself. Several from the community of San Carlos showed up to share a Margarita with Author Rico Austin or take a selfie with Troy Sauser & Norene Sullivan or party at the marina with Connie, Kim, Martha, Charliss 'Char' Smith or how about catching a college football game with Abby Cady, Gino & Chad Lynn! There are all kinds of things to do at Hammerhead's in beautiful downtown San Carlos Sonora Mexico! SEA U there - Salud!
