Roy Rogers the cowboy actor, the singer and the namesake of the Roy Rogers Restaurants is MY BAD TEQUILA guy on this fine Tuesday evening in Scottsdale, AZ. Roy Rogers was born Leonard Franklin Slye on November 5, 1911 in Cincinnati Ohio in a tenement building on 2nd street where the Riverfront Stadium was erected in 1970. Roy would later tell the story that he was born at second base. In July of 1912, Roy's dad and uncle built a 12 x 50 foot houseboat made of salvage lumber and the Slye family floated on the Ohio River towards Portsmouth, Ohio. Upon arriving at Portsmouth, the elder Slye purchased a tract of land to build a home, but the flood of 1913 allowed them to move the houseboat onto the property and there they lived in it on dry land.
Roy's first wife died directly after childbirth, he then met Dale Evans and he proposed to her during a rodeo at the Chicago Stadium. Dale Evans married Roy Rogers on New Year's Eve in 1947 at the Flying L Ranch in Davis, Oklahoma. (I was a quest of my good friend Bob and stayed at the Flying E Ranch, a Dude Ranch, in 2006 in Wickenburg, AZ - no relation to Flying L Ranch). They had filmed "Home in Oklahoma" in Davis, OK at the Flying E Ranch a few months before there wedding. Dale never did change her name but remained married to Roy Rogers until Roy died of congestive heart failure on July 6, 1998 RIP. They were residing in Apple Valley, California when he entered into eternal rest. Mr. Rogers is buried at Sunset Hills cemetery in Apple Valley.
I remember Roy Rogers with his golden palomino horse - Trigger and his German Shepard Dog - Bullet on the black and white TV. Roy almost always had a sidekick in his movies and The Roy Rogers Show. The show was aired on radio for nine years before moving to television from 1951 - 1957. He was featured in over one hundred western movies and with him were either Pat Brady (the guy that drove the jeep named "Nellybelle") or Gabby Hayes. Roy carried the nickname of "King of Cowboys" and Dale Evans had the nickname of "Queen of the West." Here's to Happy Trails and there live long friend Mr. Gene Autry - the singing cowboy.

Tiger Woods has given his statement in Tigerville, Florida and has been fined $164.00 and 4 points taken away from his driving record, nothing more. If U or I were involved in a similar accident we wouldn't be getting a "Mulligan." "Tiger will need a "Tin Cup" if he continues swinging ...." "MY BAD TEQUILA would not want to be involved in a threesome or foursome with Tiger Woods and his wife Elin; could be dangerous."
Saludos,
Uncle Rico
