Super Bowl XLIV, New Orleans Saints – Champions, Super Bowl Commercials, Cabo Wabo Tequila

Amigos, ?que pasan en Super Bowl Sunday?
BBQ was successful and tasty, beer was cold and delicious, Tequila was Cabo Wabo and terrific. Super Bowl was well worth the preparation and anticipation. Did I mention John Daly BBQ was Super Delicious. http://www.JohnDalyBBQ.com

Carrie Underwood started out the big Show in Miami, Florida with signing “The Star Spangled Banner.” Her voice was superb as always but her costume looked like something that was taken out of Elvis Presley’s closet in the early seventies – an all white jump suit with wide, wide bell bottoms and white huge pumps. The pumps Carrie was sporting are the same that the hookers and professional dancers or strippers wear while grinding or wrapping their bodies around a pole. I hope Joan Rivers has a woman to girl chat with Miss Underwood and gives her some fashion tips.

Coin Toss is handled by new Hall of Fame NFL member Emmitt Smith and coin lands on heads which was called by the New Orleans Saints. Saints elect to receive and the game has begun. Oh, look my bottle has only a single lonely lime sitting in the bottom, go to refrigerator and problem is solved.

Commercial Time is huge for Super Bowl Sunday; Doritos was the big sponsor of the Super Bowl and had not just one but four disappointing, non-funny commercials. My advice to Doritos is to find a new ad agency because the one they are using now is not doing it. Bridgestone Tires had a great commercial with the boys in the vehicle hauling Shamu back to the ocean after a wild Bachelor party weekend – one of my favorites of the evening. Godaddy.com never can go wrong with their spokesperson and godaddy girl, Miss Danica Patrick and other hot co-stars. Jim McMahon of the Super Bowl XX Championship Chicago Bears and the Dancing Bears were back doing their super bowl shuffle – good stuff but don’t remember what the product was that they were trying to pitch or peddle. Snickers was great with Betty White playing football. End of first quarter – Indianapolis Colts 10, New Orleans Saints 0; Think I’ll have a beer, not looking good for my chosen Saints.

Start of second quarter, more commercials: Coca Cola and the Simpsons team up – so/so. Monster.com has a beaver fiddler playing his fiddle all over the country and then ends up with a babe in a hot tub in the back of a pickup. I wasn’t really sure what the message was, perhaps if a fiddle playing beaver can hook up with a hot chick in a hot tub in a busy city maybe, just maybe Monster.com can help you find a position? First Budlight commercial – can’t recall what it was about, but do remember it was no bueno. Budweiser did however come up with an original advertisement with the human bridge to help get the Budweiser Beer Truck into town for the important delivery. End of second quarter / half time: Colts leading Saints 10 – 6. Time for a shot of Tequila, things are looking up.

Bridgestone Half Time Show featuring ‘The Who’ an English band that formed in 1964 and still rocking. ‘The Who’ started their show with “Pinball Wizard” and played a fifteen song medley which included such hits as “Who are You” and “Teenage Wasteland.” Good show, although I believe CBS might have had a ratings motive behind the selection as the hit song “Who are You” is the theme song for CSI of which there are three: Las Vegas CSI, Miami CSI, New York CSI and all are on CBS. If you have a theory, same or different, MY BAD TEQUILA would love for you to share it with us.

Beer Break, beginning of the third quarter had New York Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez giving a plug for CBS. Then David Letterman and Jay Leno are separated by Oprah Winfrey sitting between the other two hosts in what Letterman calls “the most boring Super Bowl party he has ever attended.” The ad was geared to helping late night show with David Letterman. Career Builder then had an amusing ad with “Casual Friday” wearing no clothes, mostly underwear. Dockers then ran their ad of ‘no pants’ – should have been called ‘no good.’ Hyundai used Bret Favre as their celebrity as the future 2020 MVP – liked it. The next Bud light commercial was much, much better as it replicated the series of “Lost” on an island that had stranded inhabitants from a crashed commercial airliner. Dove for Men – didn’t know what product was being marketed until the very end, but did get to hear the tune of the Lone Ranger during the entirety. Dodge Charger – man’s last stand was very entertaining. Flowers – Teleflora.com – was alright. Hats off to Papa Johns Pizza, they remained with their message and showed the famous Chevy Camaro driven and owned by Papa John. Disney ran a piece on their new movie premiering in a few weeks with Johnny Depp in “Alice in Wonderland.” Kiss and midgets got it done with Dr. Pepper and Groundhogs Day with Steelers – Polamalu as the little groundhog that sees his shadow. FloTV used a man shopping with his wife and missing everything on television. End of third quarter Colts still leading 17 – 16 over New Orleans. Starting to get back in the Super Bowl mood, it’s going to be a great game after all.

Start of fourth quarter, more commercials and another trip to the refrigerator for a Corona. More commercials, ZDX Acura, Denny’s Restaurants – remember this Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 from 9am to 2pm a free Grand Slam Meal. Charles Barkley did a spot with Taco Bell and he looks as if he has been eating many, many burritos and keeps the nacho maker busy. Super Bowl is getting interesting, looks as if Peyton Manning is going to lead his team downfield to tie the score at 24 all. Unbelievably, Manning throws an interception that is run back by New Orleans for a touchdown. No late heroics from the Colts. Final score New Orleans 31 – Indianapolis 17. Dree Brees is selected as Super Bowl XLIV MVP. Congratulations, to the great city of New Orleans, the state of Louisiana, the entire Saints team and staff and MVP, Mr. Dree Brees. Fat Tuesday is about to start 8 or 9 days early.

Tequila Time: Cabo Wabo was proudly served today as the preferred Super Bowl Tequila at MY BAD TEQUILA’s Super Bowl Party. First thing this morning, I log onto Facebook and there is a drink waiting for me from who else – My Amigo, Mr. Sammy Hagar, the Red Rocker himself. Being a very well mannered human, I send him back a shot of Tequila for him to sip on. Immediately after that I receive a Tequila shot from Sammy’s look a like and my Amigo – Lance. Great way to welcome a Super Bowl Sunday.

J.D. Salinger - Catcher in the Rye, Azunia Tequila, Howard Zinn, Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga, Pink

2/7/2010

Hola Amigos, It has been a hard week on our older generation of Authors and a hectic week all seven days. We’ll start by paying tribute to two great authors, one was 92 years of age and the other was 88 years of age. We’ll then move onto less trivial matters such as the love triangle between Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Anniston. Perhaps we’ll ponder why Nicole Kidman seems to pick short guys as husbands; case in hand, ex – Tom Cruise and now hubby, Mr. Keith Urban.

Then it’s onto the Grammys and the Miss America Pageant. This morning I thought about when I first began writing as a reporter for the Eager Beaver 4-H (4 H) Club and then progressed upward, when elected as Marsing, Idaho Chapter Reporter for FFA (Future Farmers of America). I owe much of my success and passion to both of these great organizations and the advisors who gave their free time to help young men and women become better human beings both socially and personally. Gracias FFA and 4-H Clubs everywhere. If you were in 4H or FFA leave a comment telling briefly of your experiences; I’m sure most will be very positive.

Jerome David Salinger RIP born January 1, 1919 and passed on through this life January 27, 2010. J. D. Salinger was an American Author best known for his 1951 novel “The Catcher in the Rye”, of which I still have my hard book copy. J.D. Salinger was also known for his reclusiveness. His last interview was given in 1980 and his last published work was in 1965. Salinger began writing short stories while still in secondary school in Manhattan where he grew up. He published several stories in the early 1940s before serving in World War II. I remember the first time I read “Catcher in the Rye,” it was like reading something schizophrenic, my heart raced faster & faster as I read, & my eyes tried to read faster & faster to keep up with my heart - really weird! I had not read a book that affected that way before or since.

Joseph R. Tatz: a Facebook Amigo, wrote the following comment on Facebook; MY BAD TEQUILA thought it very appropriate, so I have quoted him. “Catcher in the rye was once my favorite book. (for a long time). In it Holden Caulfield talks about reading a book (I think by Ring Lardner) of which he would like to be able to talk to the author, he liked it so much. I felt that way about 'catcher', 'a new earth', and Bob Dylan's music, but I have no idea what I would actually ask them if given the chance...I actually know what I'd ask every or any one else in the world, but not them.”

Howard Zinn another American Author, historian, activist, playwright and intellectual passed away on the same day as did J.D. Salinger. Zinn was born August 24, 1922 and passed away on January 27, 2010. Howard Zinn wrote more than 20 books, which included his best-selling and influential “A People’s History of the United States.” Zinn was born to a Jewish immigrant family in Brooklyn. . His father, Eddie Zinn, born in Austria-Hungary emigrated to the U.S. before the outbreak of World War I. Zinn like Salinger also served our great country in World War II.

Okay, what is going to happen to all the children that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have adopted and birthed? I’m seeing all the newsstand magazines with an X between Jolie and Pitt and others that say Jennifer Anniston welcomes Brad back with open arms. This is not the Globe or Enquirer; these are the legit publications of People Magazine along with others. Brad could have saved himself a few years of traveling if he would have just stayed it with “Friends” Jennifer Anniston, but he would have missed all the adoption opportunities and the screaming of Angelina. “It was the best of times and it was the worst of times.”

Grammy Awards are being handed out as I write this Blog. Looks as if Beyonce and young country princess Taylor Swift are the big winners along with Lady GAGA. It would be cool if Kanye West won and Taylor went upon stage. I’m sure that won’t happen as Miss Swift seems to have a grip on polite manners. Great entrance by Pink as she twirled around upside down while water sprayed out from her as if it were torrents of sweat leaving her glands.

A photo opportunity for Nicole Kidman shows her towering above her latest and greatest husband, country singer and fellow Aussie Keith Urban. Kidman also stood a foot or so above her ex – Mr. Tom Cruise. She must have a thing for those shorter men, but as they say “Love is blind.” If Nicole is Happy, then MY BAD TEQUILA is Happy.

Congratulations to Miss Virginia, Caressa Cameron who was selected as Miss America 2010. The ratings on the beauty pageants have continued to suffer in ratings as beautiful women can be seen daily by the click of a mouse. Also, I don’t think having Mario Lopez as host helps much either. I still have him pictured hanging with Screech on “Saved by the Bell” and remember is dishonesty when applying to appear on “Dancing with the Stars.” “No, I have never danced professionally nor have had any prior professional dancing instructions or lessons.” Mario – that is one of the Ten (10) Commandments, “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” I’ve always thought that the Host should be under the same scrutiny as the participants. You lie, cheat, steal or pose for nudie magazines, you are disqualified.

TEQUILA TIME – Azunia Tequila – Born in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico, lies the world’s most perfect soil and climate for growing Weber Blue Agave. Hola Mis Amigos!

This is the longest time by far that I have deserted MY BAD TEQUILA Blog. Well actually, desertion is a bit strong for my absence. I have been incredibly busy in a tremendously, incredibly, exhilarating, bubbly way. My time has been taken up by my having accepted a sales manager position for a very strong international company. Once again I will be paid for actual work performed, my days of late as a struggling artist (author, blogger) are over for now. I will continue to work on my novel of “My Bad Tequila” when time permits and to write the Blog about twice a week in my lonely hotel room while traveling. On evenings that I am not writing, socializing with customers and/or friends will take up some of my away from home nights and other eves will be in a lounge conversing with strangers, making new amigos and building new stories in my head while sipping on Tequila or a tasty Corona with its Compadre – Senor Limon.

I want to Thank all My Amigos of 44 States which make up the U.S. that have or are reading my Blog and also the Citizens of 27 different Countries. It has been a fun, rewarding 5 months since starting “My Bad Tequila” Blog. I am honored to have had over 6,000 Unique Visitors from all over the Globe. What makes this even sweeter is that I am a Thunderbird. For those of you not familiar with the term T-Bird or Thunderbird, it is a School of Global Management that has been ranked Numero Uno (Number 1) consistently, yearly since 1996 (14 years in a row) in International Business by US News & World Report. Yes, it offers an excellent MBA International Program and the Networking System is second to none. There is a phenomena we at Thunderbird call the “Thunderbird Mystique.” I can’t tell you what it is; however if you enroll at T-Bird and obtain your Master’s Degree there, you will be shown the mystery of the “Thunderbird Mystique.” If you plan on doing this, plan on taking a 2 year hiatus from your current job or family. Don’t worry you’ll get another family – I promise.

Thunderbird School of Global Management is a private business school and it was the first and the oldest graduate school specializing in international business. I live not far from campus as it is located in Glendale, Arizona about 40 to 50 miles west of Scottsdale. The school has an interesting background as it was founded in 1946 by a retired U.S. Army Air Force Lieutenant General named Barton Kyle Yount (1884-1949) RIP on a former military airbase. US Pilots and Chinese Pilots did their training at Thunderbird Field during World War II. The old flight tower is still standing and in 2006 a fund was created to restore the “Tower.” I was able to go to the dedication in October 2009 and take a tour into the tour and up the short flight of stairs – very humbled to have been able to be there and partake in the dedication.

The school celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2006 where a new mission, vision and beliefs were unveiled and announced.

Mission: We educate global leaders who create sustainable prosperity worldwide
Vision: To be the world’s foremost learning community for global managers and global enterprises
Beliefs: Global Mindset, Global Citizenship, Global Entrepreneurship, Global Thought Leadership, Global Connection

I was incredibly fortunate to be accepted and to belong to such a great Institution and to have such an outstanding International Educational experience. I served and worked as a freelance writer and journalist for two years for the school newspaper – Das Tor. By being able to do this type of writing, it enabled me to become friends with many, many incredible students from many continents. There have been students that have graduated from Thunderbird from 141 countries and the alumni count is now well over 38,000 global minded individuals.

When you pull up my “La Cantina” (Home Page) from the website
http://www.MyBadTequila.com you will see the quote:

"I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a Citizen of the World"
-Socrates | Citizen of the World & Philosopher

This is a quote I love and adhere to, that is why I am so Thankful for all the visitors from all over this spectacular world we live and breathe in. Gracias Amigos.

TEQUILA TIME: Cabo Wabo comes to mind as does my guitar playing Amigo – Sammy Hagar. Beginning tomorrow I will be cheering for my Amigo – Mr. John Daly in San Diego, California as he plays to win and make the cut at Torrey Pines on Thursday 28th of January 2010. “Hit em Straight Johnny, cause we know you’ll hit em long,”

Hola Compadres!

Another great day in 2010 as we have Amigos everywhere helping to fight Breast Cancer and to find a cure. This cancer comprises of 10.4% of all cancer worldwide among women. According to the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), more than 500,000 people around the globe die from breast cancer each and every year. Each and every one of us has skin in this take no prisoners game, as there is not a person in this world that has not lost a mother, sister, daughter, sister-in-law, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, daughter-in-law, niece, cousin, neighbor or a friend to this hideous monster.

XTrainRadio.com kicked off an event yesterday 1/19/2010 called the “Breast Cancer Beatdown!” It is up and running, so please do tell all your friends and family that they are going to make this a huge party to honor those that have fallen to this awful disease and “Beatdown Breast Cancer” in 2010. Come join the event, it is also posted on Facebook or you can join at
http://www.XTrainRadio.com, who has gone Pink on their site, go check it out! Rock on Woody and Jay! Let’s help “Beatdown Breast Cancer!”

MY BAD TEQUILA is fortunate to know such caring individuals as Woody, Jay and my dear friend Wendy, whom is a Survivor. Every year Wendy gets all her Amigos and Amigas together to walk for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, formerly known as The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Susan Goodman Komen was born on Halloween Day, October 31st, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois and at the young age of 33 was diagnosed with breast cancer and died three years later in the year 1980. Susan’s younger sister, Nancy Goodman Brinker, strongly believed that Susan’s outcome might have been better if she and her family would have known more about cancer and its treatment. In 1982 Nancy founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Susan’s memory. Just this last December 2, 2009 Nancy Brinker was appointed to the CEO position of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. We wish you continued luck with the organization, Nancy.

Another very humane and giving person is someone that most of you know by his long drives on the PGA Tour – Mr. John Daly. Back in October 2009, JohnDalyBBQ.com launched an event devoted to awareness and funds for the Memphis-Mid South Affiliate of The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit breast cancer organization. During the entire month of this past October, John Daly BBQ donated 10% of all gross sales from every purchase make on their website to the Memphis-Mid South Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. John Daly BBQ’s COO Mr. Russ Christy was quoted as saying “This incentive creates a Win-Win situation for all parties involved. Together, we’re raising fund to help find a cure for breast cancer and helping educate people about the disease.” Not only do I respect John Daly the Golf Athlete, John Daly the BBQ World Famous Expert, but most of all I like and respect John Daly the Philanthropist. Get your BBQ Ribs ordered for the Super Bowl; check out their Super Special at

Martin Luther King Jr., Cabo Wabo - Margarita Snow Cones, Tropics Nation

1/17/2010

Hola Amigos,

Manana is Martin Luther King Jr.’s celebrated day of birth even though Mr. King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American clergyman, prominent leader and chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism against racial discrimination in the federal and state laws. MLK Jr. is a martyr to two Christian churches and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957 and served as its first president. In 1963 King led the ‘March on Washington,’ where King gave the historic speech of “I Have a Dream.” It was at this speech that Reverend King raised public consciousness about the civil rights movement.

MLK Jr. attended Booker T. Washington High School and attended Morehouse College at the age of fifteen years without formally graduating from high school. He graduated fromMorehouse College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination by non-violent means. I personally believe that is what made Martin Luther King Jr. such an outstanding individual, ‘his bringing attention to a cause without violence, without angry words, without threats.’ This is the reason I am compelled to write about this individual on the eve before his federally recognized birthday, the 3rd Monday of January. Martin Luther King Jr. RIP was assassinated April 4, 1968.

On November 2, 1983, United States President Ronald Reagan signed a bill at the White House Rose Garden, creating a federal holiday honoring MLK Jr. The bill proposed by Indiana Representative Katie Hall, had Martin’s birthday first recognized as a holiday on January 20, 1986.

The other day I saw a large photo framed and displayed outside Blockbuster Video depicting Rosa Parks in the rear of the picture, Martin Luther King Jr. in the middle and Barack Hussein Obama out in front and his profile was larger than either MLK Jr. or Rosa Parks. I was very disappointed at seeing such a photograph, Mr. Obama has not accomplished near the feats nor the many sacrifices that bestow such greatness as Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks are to be recognized for. Shame on whoever put together that incorrect collage of individuals and double shame for putting Barack out front and center of two of the most non-selfish persons and great humans as were Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr. Happy Birthday to the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

Meryl Streep, one of my most favorite actresses won a Golden Globe as chef Julia Childs in the hit movie “Julia and Julia.” Way to go Meryl, you are a great actress!

Tequila Time: My Bad Tequila has discovered making ‘Margarita Snow Cones’ or ‘Waborita Sno Cones.’ Absolutely delicious with Cabo Wabo Reposado Tequila. I may join a circus and start selling these unbelievable delicacies on ice to my Amigos around the globe.

Today is a very special day for me because tomorrow I begin my new employment with …….. Again, something to be very thankful for.

Check out Tropics Nation and become a beach bum without going to the beach.

?What’s Happening Amigos?

Great things are taking place for MY BAD TEQUILA and a few of its Compadres. Let me start with
www.XTrainRadio.com , if you haven’t joined you need to hop on that Rock and Roll Train headed for Eternal Fun. For the Biggest Party on high definition stereo it is the place. Just received news from DJ Amigo – Woody Nelson that the XTrainRadio has gone 100% commercial free and will be supported wholly by You the Listener. Let’s all help them stay that way for 2010 with a small donation. MY BAD TEQUILA decided to partake in this worthwhile endeavor and gave a bit to keep the music playing and the ads a laying.

Stop in and say hello via email to Jocks – Woody Nelson, the smokin’ Veronica Tyler and Pyke. These three do it all to keep the rock tunes coming and the party going. Amigo Jay Nance keeps things straight in and out of the XTrainRadio oficinas. When on-line check out the X-Pass, this VIP Pass will put you up close and personal to your favorite band members including but not limited to AC / DC, Saliva, Cavo, AFI, 311, Kill Switch Engage, Halestorm, Chevelle and many, muchas, mas. Check out the concert dates on
www.XTrainRadio.com and see a real show in Vegas, BABY!

Moving along, let’s talk about one of my favorite golfers on the PGA tour – Mr. John Daly. I adore John for three reasons, one the guy has a heart of Gold, he has given generously to many charitable causes, most notably Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Secondly, I love the guy – John Patrick Daly because he is human and has erred many times as have some of us in this world of many temptations and pleasures. John doesn’t pretend something bad never happened, John doesn’t make excuses when he screws up, John faces the music. We all could learn a great deal from this great humane, very human of a being. He doesn’t complain, just tries to overcome the situation or as some of us refer to as addictions or better yet, demons. The Good Lord knows that I am not perfect and have had my trials and tribulations, so to me, I see John as a famous Rico. I dream of being as well known and loved as John Daly. I do however, think of all the trouble I could and would get into if I were allowed to wear John’s huge shoes for a day, a week, a month. Daly once again showed his class when given the opportunity to bash Tiger Woods as have other PGA golfers, but John took the high road with a caring comment of hoping that Woods is healthy and returns back on the Tour. “We need him…….Golf needs him badly” were the words coming from John Daly’s voice and much slimmer body due to recent weight loss. Was Tiger so kind to Daly when Daly fell off the wagon or “transgressed”? I think not, Tiger was the first to say that sort of behavior should not be allowed in and on the PGA Tour.

Mr. John Daly is one heck of an individual and a great golfer; in 1990 he was the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. Then in 1991 he won the PGA Championship and won the British Open in 1995 in a playoff with Italian Contantino Rocca at St. Andrews.

Now, have any of you tried his Barbequed Ribs? Outstanding, finger licking great, don’t want a stop till I drop, these are just some of the resounding compliments that John Daly’s BBQ receives. John Daly’s BBQ starts with top-on-line 3 down baby back loin ribs. The juices are sealed in with their own natural dry rub, the gourmet ribs are cooked low ‘n’ slow and hickory licked under strict time / temperature controls. I know your mouth is watering and you want to know where and how you can get your John Daly World Famous Memphis Style BBQ Ribs. I am going to make it easy for you, go to
www.JohnDalyBBQ.com and select your package or combination and receive an additional 15% off your order by going ordering using a promotional code that is tied with the www.XTrainRadio.com website and enter in the code SUPERBBQ by February 3rd, 2010 to receive by February 5th, 2010 for your Super Bowl Party on February 7th, 2010. Strange isn’t it how all things are related in my Blogs; sometimes it just happens and sometimes it is sophisticatedly planned out in my dangerous but gentle mind.

TEQUILA TIME: An Azunia Tequila Anejo bottle full of some of the finest Tequila I have tasted, was delivered to my doorstep on Monday afternoon. By Monday evening that bottle had been opened and I was sipping and enjoying a fine shot of Azunia Tequila, compliments of Intersect Beverage of Newport Beach, California. The aroma of the Weber Blue Agave filled my nostrils when I opened the bottle and the flavor was even more delicious that I had anticipated. I could detect a faint Oak smell from the wooden barrels that had helped age this fine and darkened Anejo Tequila. It was if I was sipping on a hundred year old richly, flavored and aged Scottish Whiskey. Magnificent is my final descriptive word. Thank You / Gracias very much Mr. Jim Riley and Mr. Kirk Gaither of Intersect Beverage. To all you Tequila Aficionados out there, order a bottle or two of this must have Azunia Tequila. A little help for my friends
www.azuniatequila.com for distribution and remember you must be 21 to go onto this website or to order Tequila. NO IFS, ANDS or BUTS. – Twenty One years young.

Hola Amigos!

An incredible night at the University of Phoenix Stadium with the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Green Bay Packers in the NFC playoffs. MY BAD TEQUILA’s Cardinals defeated the Pack 51 – 45 in OT for the most points scored in a wild card playoff game, total 96 points of Offense, touchdown after touchdown, this game was anything but ho-hum or boring. What makes this Cardinal team special? You need to know the history to understand why this underdog has been the NFL red headed step child for so long. The Cardinals have been pushed around and moved from city to city for years.

Chicago Cardinals were an established club in 1898 and are the oldest continuously run professional American Football team in the United States. The Cardinals along with the Chicago Bears were two of the charter members of the NFL (National Football League) in 1920 and the only one still in operation. The only NFL Championship that the Cardinals have had in franchise history was in 1947, twenty years before the first Super Bowl was ever played.

The Cardinals moved to St. Louis in 1960 (fantastic year), the same year that an outstanding rookie named Larry Wilson, a ferocious hitting safety began playing for the St. Louis Cardinals. Larry played until 1972 and was inducted into the hall of fame in 1978. Larry’s stats included 52 interceptions, returning 5 Touchdowns and 800 yards, all while playing on the defensive side of the football. In 1999, Mr. Wilson was ranked number 43 on ‘The Sporting News’ list of the ‘100 Greatest Football Players’, making him the highest ranked player to have played a majority of his career with the Cardinal franchise. Larry was ranked #9 on NFL Network’s list of the “Top 10 Draft Steals” in NFL history as he was drafted in the seventh round in 1960 by the St. Louis Cardinals. If you doubt the toughness of Larry Wilson, consider this: Wilson played and intercepted a pass with casts on both hands due to two broken wrists. I was fortunate enough to have met Larry during a Super Bowl Party in 1996 in Phoenix when the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers met up in the ‘Valley of the Sun,’ letting the Cowboys reclaim their Super Bowl Title and once again become America’s Team.

The Phoenix Cardinals rolled into town in 1988, three years prior to my entrance into the ‘Land of the Sun’ and were the doormat to the NFC Central Division. Phoenix Cardinals didn’t even have their own stadium; they shared and paid royalties to the Arizona State University and took turns painting the field from Red and White to Maroon and Yellow during the football season. When I arrived in 1991 and went to my first ever NFL game between the Phoenix Cardinals and the New York Giants, I thought I had been transported during the waking hours without my knowledge to New York Stadium as the only colors I saw were blue, blue, blue and a different shade of blue. While ordering popcorn or beer I and a few other lonely Cardinal fans were intimidated at the (home stadium of ASU). A few weeks later I went to another supposedly home game against the Chicago Bears, again DA Bears here, DA Bears there, there was DA Bears everywhere. A few scared Cardinal fans in red, shivering in 80 degree weather as we were afraid to cheer for our sad Cardinals when a rare first down was obtained, in fear for our lives at a displaced Soldier Field in Tempe, Arizona. This went on for years, never having a 40% ratio of Cardinal Fans to opposing team fans.

The Arizona Cardinals name change was a marketing strategy to incorporate the residents of metropolitan area Tucson and out lying communities such as Flagstaff, Yuma, Show Low and Prescott to have buy in for an NFL franchise. In 1994 the Phoenix Cardinals were now the Arizona Cardinals and attendance improved at Sundevil Stadium. Still Dallas had more attending fans, Giants, Redskins, Philadelphia, Chicago, the list went on and on; however, a Cardinal Fan had a fighting chance if his group picked the right opposing fan group to (dance) with. In 1998 the Cardiac Cards made the NFL playoffs for the first time since 1947, ending the longest drought in professional sports history. Led by quarterback Jake Plummer, a second round draft pick in 1997 and a hometown favorite as he had played and started for four years at ASU and a trip to the Rose Bowl; the Cardinals defeated the Dallas Cowboys in Irving, Texas. We lost the next game to the Minnesota Vikings, but we didn’t care; at last our team had made it to the post season.

In 2006 the Cardinals finally get their own football stadium in the Phoenix valley after 18 years of borrowing a fraternity’s stadium. University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona became the overnight sensation and the first Fiesta Bowl ever played there on January 1, 2007 was named the Greatest College Game of All Time.’ Undefeated #9 Broncos played #8 Oklahoma Sooners in a Double Overtime Shootout – final score 43 – 42, Broncos completing their season 13 – 0 against the heavily favored Sooners.

Jump ahead to 2008, Cardinals with a 9 – 7 record win the NFC West Division and are once again in the playoffs, this time with a large fan base following their beloved QB #13 Kurt Warner and his favorite target, wide receiver #11 Larry Fitzgerald. We make it all the way to the Super Bowl to the surprise of most; except the true Cardinal fans that have stuck by them in the valley for 20 years. Ironically, the Pittsburgh Steelers steel our victory on the last play of the game to secure their legend and six Super Bowl rings for their storied franchise.

2009 and the Cardinals again win their division, now two years in a row, are in the playoffs facing the Green Bay Packers who had destroyed the Cardinals a week earlier on Lambeau Field. MY BAD TEQUILA is there to witness the highest scoring wildcard playoff game in history, a total of 96 points. End result, Cardinals 51 to the Packers 45 points equal 96 total offensive points in an overtime game. How to add even more excitement for a long time Cardinal Fan named Rico, throw him into a suite with Rod Stewart and Jon Bon Jovi. This is the part I hate, I promised not to tell of which company I was a guest of that included these Hall of Famer Rock and Rollers into its fold. Both Rockers were dressed in red and Jon Bon Jovi sported an Arizona Cardinal ball cap, so it is safe to say, both are Cardinal fans. Then, later as I was making my way to my vehicle on foot, my dear old friend #8 Larry Wilson spots me and waves me over to chat with him and his lovely wife. What a night.

Cardinals have only retired five jerseys in three different cities: Chicago was #77 Stan Mauldin and #99 Marshall Goldberg; St. Louis has retired my great friend #8 Larry Wilson and #88 J.V. Cain; Only one lone jersey has been put away in Arizona, that of #40 Pat Tillman RIP, whom quit football and gave away a lucrative contract to serve his country as an Army Ranger. Tillman, did what he thought was best for him and his fellow countrymen, to protect Our Great Nation from terrorism.

MY BAD TEQUILA has four heroes that have played for the Cardinals: Larry Wilson, Jake Plummer, Pat Tillman and Kurt Warner.

You may be confused or ask why Kurt Warner and/or Jake Plummer? Jake Plummer - because I knew him, a fellow Boise, Idaho native; he was also a best friend of Pat Tillman at ASU and within the Arizona Cardinal organization. I played pool in a country bar honky tonk one night with Tillman and Plummer, had a great time and witnessed their closeness as true friends. Jake Plummer was devastated by the news of Pat Tillman’s untimely death, professional football no longer was the most important thing in the world to Jake and I respect that. Kurt Warner is also one of my heroes, not only for winning a Super Bowl for the St. Louis Rams and taking my beloved Cardinals to the Super Bowl last year but for being an incredible human being and taking care of and raising two children that were not his own flesh and blood. Want to read about an incredible man, Google Kurt Warner personal life and see what you get. Next time you see the Cardinals in a playoff game, think about our history and heartache of past and then you might realize why we may get a little crazy with a win.

Tequila Time: After such an invigorating night, meeting and having a margarita with Jon Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, seeing an overtime game with the most points ever scored in a playoff game with my Cardinal team winning, topping if off with seeing a dear old Amigo – Larry Wilson I had to come home and pour myself a shot of Cabo Wabo. Only one thing would have made the night better, had my Amigo, Sammy Hagar had shared a shot of the tequila that he made famous with yours truly.

Elvis Presley & Two Related Stories, Cabo Wabo, BCS

Hola Compadres!

Special, special day for two of my Amigos from Thunderbird, School of Global Management - Chris and Susannah T. who met at Thunderbird and were both instrumental (pun intended) in the success of Global Sounds, an international music phenomena during the years of 1996 - 1998. Susannah & Chris have what we called a Thunder Relationship, they dated, they married and they mated, (I believe I have the correct order in the timeline). Today, a new little Boy entered their lives, same day as 'the King of Rock and Roll' came into this world. I hope they name him Elvis! This is the first part of the three part story of today's interesting Blog.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born 75 years ago today on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo Mississippi. Elvis was an American Musician, Actor and a Cultural Icon. He was called several things including "Elvis", "King of Rock and Roll", and "the King". His musical career began in 1954 as one of founders and performers of rockabilly which combined country, rhythm and blues with a strong backbeat. Mr. Presley was the leading figure in Rock and Roll. His uninhibited and controversial performances just increased his fame as he had the great looks and one of the most beautiful voices the world had ever heard. "The King" did it all, served in the military, starred in films and recorded his successful music. In 1973 "The King of Rock and Roll" staged the first global live concert via satellite, 'Aloha from Hawaii,' seen by over 1.5 Billion Viewers. This concert broadcast remains the most watched broadcast by an individual entertainer in television history. Elvis is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth-century popular culture. He is the best-selling solo artist in the history of popular music with sales of over 1 billion albums worldwide. He has been nominated for 14 Grammys (winning 3 times) by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and received the "Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award" at the young age of 36. Four music Halls of Fame have inducted Elvis including 'The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' (1986), 'Rockabilly Hall of Fame' (1997), 'Country Music Hall of Fame' (1998), and the 'Gospel Hall of Fame' (2001). He received the 'W.C. Handy Award' from the Blues Foundation and the 'Academy of Country Music's Golden Hat Award', its first in 1984 'American Music Awards' honored Elvis with its' first posthomous presentation of the Award of Merit. Elvis Presley was scheduled to leave his home in Memphis (Graceland) on the evening of August 16, 1977, to begin another tour. Later that afternoon, Elvis (RIP) was found, unresponsive on his bathroom floor and was pronounced dead at 3:30 pm at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Graceland, in 1982 was officially opened to the public, attracting over half a million visitors annually. Elvis's Graceland is the second most visited home in the United States, just after the White House in Washington D.C. In 2006, Graceland was declared a National Historic Landmark.

Now for the third part of the story; My fellow Author, Writer and good friend Cathy P.S. was in the delivery room on August 16, 1977 ready to give birth to her daughter on the very day that Elvis left this world. Cathy shared with me the story of her and the other women that were in the late stages of giving birth all discussing the death of Elvis right up until the time each of them gave life to Newborns awaiting to visit this wonderful world we live and breathe in. Cathy also stated to me that "she believes that's the way Elvis would have wanted it, all the ladies talking about him."

Tequila Time - Cabo Wabo again is the TEQUILA of choice to celebrate tjhe birth day of Chris and Susannah's new Baby Boy and what would have been Elvis Presley's 75th Birthday. I'm sure my good friend Sammy Hagar aka Red Rocker will toast his best Cabo Wabo to this celebration of Life.

Just received a phone call from Boise, Idaho - party night going on at Kory and Michelle P.'s home with attendees Rich & Rhonda C., Tim & Stephanie; these six people went to the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona with MY BAD TEQUILA. Honorable mention to Tim & Susan B., Greg & Lisa C., Matthew B., Justin S., Doug & Dana B., Susan S., Howie H., and the Sieler Family minus Dave - Thanks to all for attending the MY BAD TEQUILA private tailgate party. Happy Premature Birthday to Rhonda - 1/10/2010; Go Arizona Cardinals!

Granddaddy of them All - Rose Bowl, BCS Championship, Vida Dulce Tequila, Lippy - Tequila Whisperer

Que Tal Amigos?

It is now finally time for the big showdown of the Bowl Championship Series #1 Alabama Crimson Tide and #2 ranked University of Texas Longhorns in 'The Granddaddy of them All' - Rose Bowl Stadium. Every four years the BCS alternates venues for the Championship game between Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl. This year 2010 the big stage is in Pasadena, California, where the first Tournament of Roses took place in 1890 by Pasadena's Valley Hunt Club, former residents of the east coast and the midwest who had left the cold winters to live in the perfect climate of Southern California. Member and Professor Charles F. Holder suggested at a meeting "Here our flowers are blooming and our oranges are about to bear. Let's hold a festival to tell the world about our paradise. In New York, people are buried in snow. This was the start of many festivals which expanded to include marching bands, motorized floats and persons on horseback.

In 1902, the Tournament of Roses decided it was time to enhance the festivities by including a football game - the first post season college football game ever held. This first football meeting was between Stanford and the University of Michigan, where Stanford, the West Coast team ran over Michigan 49 - 0; this led to the now the traditional meetings between the winner of the PAC 10 and the Big 10. A new stadium was built and hosted it's first New Year's Day football game in 1923 and earned the nickname "The Rose Bowl." The nickname grew even more to "The Granddaddy of Them All" and has been an attraction of sellout magnitude since 1947. That was the first year of the Tournament's exclusive agreement with the Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences. Here we are in 2010 where 2 time heisman candidate Colt McCoy of Texas and this year's heisman candidate winner Mark Ingram are squaring off on College Football's biggest stage. MY BAD TEQUILA has to go with University of Texas as my Great, Great, Great, Great Uncle - Stephen F. Austin led the "Austin Colony" to the eventual settlement of Texas and Statehood.

Tequila Time - Dulce Vida Tequila Anejo - Dulce Vida Anejo is aged for 24 months in American Oak Kentucky whiskey barrels. It serves up full-bodied flavors, including roasted almond and caramel notes, then gives way to a spicy, buy silky smooth, finish. Headquarters are in Austin, Texas and distilled in Santa Cruz de Astillero in Jalisco, Mexico.

Speaking of Dulce Vida Tequila - My Amigo Lippy, the World Famous Agave, Tequila Whisperer is having a tasting of Dulce Vida Tequilas - Blanco, Reposado and Anejo on live video. Join Tequila Whisperer on Facebook and interact with him as he does his tastings and famous puppet act "Doggy and Piggy Show." When joining the Tequila Whisperer on Facebook, let him know that Rico of MY BAD TEQUILA sent you and I promise you will get very special treatment. He may even ask your requests for music during his Thursday night tastings.

As always comments - great or not so great are encouraged, doesn't even have to follow the subjects. Start your own discussion or request a subject for MY BAD TEQUILA to Blog about.

Amigos & Amigas,

2009 kicked the crap out of all of us, now it is our time to get even;  Kick the Sh't out of 2009 tonight and tell it not to come back.  We welcome in our new Amigo - 2010 with Open Arms, Hugs, Kisses and Champagne.  Lots of bad things happened in 2009 and only a few pleasant occurrences.

We'll start with the Good since that won't take much time or Blogging:

The New York Yankees are again at the top of the Baseball World, with winning the World Series.  This next episode can be looked at as Good or Bad depending on your point of view, which I guess just about covers any subject.  Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl over Arizona Cardinals.  This one hurts to include in the nice/good category as I am an Arizona Cardinal & Kurt Warner Fan.  I can find something positive in this as the Arizona Cardinals were playing in the Super Bowl having won the NFC West Conference.  Boise State University Broncos again went undefeated in the regular season and again playing in their favorite stadium away from home (University of Phoenix) in the Fiesta Bowl for the second time in four years.  They will meet TCU on January 4th, 2010.  Chickenfoot Band formed and their eponymous debut album, 'Chickenfoot,' was released on June 4th, 2009, same day as Rico Austin's Birthday.  Coincidence? I don't think so, remember Sammy Hagar, MY BAD TEQUILA, Rico Austin and Cabo Wabo are all great friends.  If Tequila could Golf, we would be a Foursome! Last Great Memory of 2009 was Chapters 1 - 9 of the novel 'My Bad Tequila' were written and completed, even though the novel was originally started in December of 2007.

Now for the Horrible part of 2009 including deaths of famous persons during the Shit-y Year.

Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin of Jon and Kate Plus Eight separated and divorced, leaving eight children that look alike and only 2 different birth dates between all eight of them in a broken million dollar home wondering what happened to all the camera people that have lived with them for years.  Tiger Woods gained 13 + girlfriends but lost a Swedish Model Wife, several endorsements including Gillette, Gatorade, Accenture and AT&T (just today);  Buick lucked out as their contract with Tiger had already ended, one irresponsible company - Nike in Beaverton, Oregon is still thinking even though Tiger isn't a good role model for young adults, he can still help them sell tennis shoes, clothing and other paraphernalia as some young males look up to Tiger as a hero by having 13 different girlfriends.  C'mon Nike, do the Right Thing!  Just Do It and drop a Tiger by the Tail.  Charlie Sheen had to spend part of Christmas Eve in an Aspen Jail.  Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie having trouble; oh, sorry that was going on in 2008 as well.

Sadly lots of deaths, the most sad for me was a five year old boy with cancer who died just days after having his wish of getting Christmas Cards from all over the World.   His parents had an early Christmas for him, he passed away in November - Mr. Noah Biorkman, A Brave Boy. RIP is for Noah and all the people below.

Michael Jackson - everyone knows of Michael, his music and The Thriller Video.

Farrah Fawcett - One of the original Charlie's Angels and her famous poster where she is wearing the red one piece swimsuit.

Patrick Swayze - He taught us Dirty Dancing, how to love a Ghost and how to kick butt in Roadhouse.

Bea Arthur - Maude, nothing else to say.

Billy Mays - Pitchman for products, he could sell us anything.

Brittany Murphy - Actress that died way to soon, we still don't have the full story.

David Carradine - Kung Fu and Kill Bill is what he will be remembered for.

Dom DeLuise - Crazy Man, loved his laugh and seeing him in Cannonball Run; was a Guest on the Dean Martin Variety Show.

Ed McMahon
- most famous man for doing almost nothing, great accomplishment.  Laughed at all of Johnny Carson's jokes and later the spokesperson for Reader's Digest Sweepstakes.  Strange his dedication took two lines.

Jett Travolta - Oldest Son of actor John Travolta and actress Kelly Preston.

Karl Malden - Always around when someone's American Express Card was stolen or missing.  Makes me wonder, hmmm?

Ricardo Montalban - Fantasy Island and his little buddy calling him "Boss" and yelling "The plane, the plane."

Soupy Sales - The face that was hit with 20,000 pies.

Ted Kennedy - One of the last surviving members of the Joseph Kennedy Clan, made a life of Politics.

Walter Cronkite - He was everywhere, reporting as a True Journalist. RIP to Walter and all before him.

Tequila Time = Don Julio 1942, a special year and a special Tequila; I have never met an individual that did not like the taste of this true Tequila.

David Hasselhoff, Cabo Wabo, Arizona Cardinals, Charlie Sheen - In Enough Trouble for Two and a Half Men

12/27/2009

Hola Compadres,

'The Hoff' aka David Hasselhoff, one of the most famous actors in Germany is our featured person this Sunday night.  Quite an interesting man if I do say so myself, as I had the pleasure of meeting and starring with Mr. Hasselhoff on an episode of Baywatch back in 1997.  The episode was 'Night of the Dolphin' and two of the three top Babes from Baywatch (according to Heckler Spray, Gossip for Grownups) were in that very same episode.  We're talking #2 on the list Carmen Electra aka Lani McKenzie and #3 Gena Lee Nolin aka Neely Capshaw;  MY BAD TEQUILA didn't have the pleasure of meeting the Great Miss Pamela Anderson but I'm sure she is just as disappointed as we are that fate never let our paths cross.

David Michael Hasselhoff was born July 17, 1952 and he is best known for two different roles, one as Michael Knight in the popular 1980 series Knight Rider and for his portrayal of Mitch Buchannon of Baywatch.  Hasselhoff was/is a huge star in Germany due to his strong performance in 1989 at the Berlin Wall and had a number one hit as a singer in the German pop charts in 1989.

David's story of Baywatch is quite intriguing as the show was initially canceled after one season by NBC; but Hasselhoff believed the series had potential and boy was he correct.  He arranged for a first-run syndication in 1991 and invested his own dinero with functions of executive producer.  He collected on the royalties and purchased the rights to Baywatch from the National Broadcasting Company which made him a very rich hombre.

Baywatch is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most watched TV show in the world with over 1.1 Billion viewers.  That means a whole lot of people have seen my smiling mug on TV as well.

A chance meeting with Susie Glickman, producer and casting director of Baywatch put me in Hollywood for a day.  Baywatch flew me over to LA via Alaska Air for the day and then I was whisked by limo to Marina Del Ray where filming took place on a giant, lovely Yacht and I was cast as a Drug Lord on 'Night of the Dolphin.'   Wow, what a day, and then to be asked back for a second and third episode but I had to study for exams at Thunderbird, School of Global Management so that I might become a high paid International Executive.  Didn't happen, should have taken my chances on the big screen with Charlie Sheen, who has been in enough trouble for 'Two and a Half Men.'

O. J. Simpson did play a part in David Hasselhoff's life; in 1994 David had arranged to sing at a concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey on pay-per-view.  This concert was going to reestablish his singing career in the United States; however, it was the same evening of O.J. Simpson's famous police chase and David did not receive the viewers that he had expected and deserved.  Most people were more interested in seeing whether Orenthal James Simpson aka "The Juice" was going to pull the trigger of the gun that he had pointed as his own head while he sped away from police at 35 - 45 miles per hour. The Juice played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Buffalo Bills before his acting career and his commercial of running through an airport and leaping over luggage for Hertz Rental Car.  In the great police chase, O.J. all but signed his confession for the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman, Jr., but the Los Angeles prosecuting attorney - Marcia Clark was worried about her hair, her appearance of television and O.J. was acquitted.  The famous line of "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.."  We all know how that turned out!

After that walk down memory lane a Tequila shot is in order, CABO WABO is the selected Reposado tonight.  The same Tequila made famous by the 'Red Rocker' - Mr. Sammy Hagar himself, an ex Montrose and Van Halen member, back again with Chickenfoot and three other cool dudes - Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith.  If you've never visited Cabo San Lucas, you need to and stop in at the CABO WABO Cantina for a shot of one of the most tastiest Tequilas in Mexico.  Also, a great time to buy Real Estate in Cabo or neighboring community San Jose, Baja de Sur, Mexico.  Beautiful haciendas with ocean views going at $150,000 - trust me a steal as these were previously valued and sold at a half million dollars.  "Buy Now - Party Later!" - Rico's own sales motto!

Okay, back home to Scottsdale and our Arizona Cardinals who have been tearing in up, another win.  These Wild Cards are at 10 - 5 and have a possibility of ending up 11 and 5 win / loss record.  Last year we went 9 and 7 and then to the Super Bowl.  Our team could be better this year than last, especially when Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells are in complete sync offensively.  If our defense can play the way they have a few times this season.... Watch Out for the Return of the Red Bird.

Hola to my Niece and & Nephew - Ashley & Tommie in Cozumel, Mexico.  Tommie called me yesterday from their cruise while at port in Cozumel to say Hello and ask me "how do we ask for our check, when we're done drinking our Margaritas?"  La Cuenta, Por Favor!  Tommie, thanks for the phone call, great to talk to U while U and la Familia are on Vacaciones.

Charlie Sheen - Bad Santa?, Azunia Tequila, Poinsettia Bowl

12/25/2009

Merry Christmas Amigos & Happy New Year is just around the corner - una mas semana (one more week).

Even though Charlie Sheen received more presents than MY BAD TEQUILA; I am sure we ended up having a better Christmas than Carlos Irwin Estevez aka Charlie Sheen.  Charlie was arrested in beautiful Aspen, Colorado and booked into the Pitkin County Jail this 25th of December, 2009 on felony charges related to an alleged domestic violence early this Christmas morning.   It appears according to TMZ that the victim is Charlie's third wife soon to be third ex-wife - Brooke Mueller, a real estate investor.  It looks as if she invested in finding Charlie Sheen, an actor that makes one half million dollars per episode on 'Two and a Half Men' of which he plays Charlie Harper opposite actors Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones.  On Charlie's behalf, Sheen told police that Mueller was the aggressor - so let's wait and see.  Also his publicist, Mr. Stan Rosenfield gave this precaution "appearance and reality can be as different as night and day.  It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.  The only conclusion that MY BAD TEQUILA will come to is that Charlie should have stayed in Los Angeles instead of coming to spend Christmas with Brooke in Aspen at a house that she rented in Colorado.  Keep this in mind and an open mind - she is living there every day and knows the local police and residents.  Poor Charlie is just a High Profile Actor.  "And that is all I am going to say about that" as quoted by Forrest Gump.

Charlie Sheen was born September 3, 1965 as Carlos Irwin Estevez in New York City to dad and actor Martin Sheen. Charlie has two acting brothers and one sister - Emilio Estevez, Ramon Estevez and Renee Estevez; he attended Santa Monica High School and made many Super-8 films with fellow actors and schoolmates Rob Lowe, Chad Lowe and Chris Penn.  Sheen has starred in over 40 films including greats such as 'Platoon' - a Vietnam film, and my favorite 'Wall Street' as Bud Fox playing opposite Michael Douglas in the 1987 film. Actress Denise Richards has had her child custody battles with Charlie as his second wife.  To me this next tidbit is the most controversial Sheen vocalization - he believes 9-11 terrorist attack was an inside job and has asked President Barack Hussein Obama to investigate.  On the stellar side for Sheen is in 1994 he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on Hollywood Boulevard.  MY BAD TEQUILA advice for Charlie: "Get the Heck out of Dodge!  Don't mess around Colorado any longer, get your butt back to Los Angeles - the Aspen Police seem to have it in for you."

Tequila Time: "Azunia Tequila Reposado is 100% Agave, and aged in American oak barrels for a minimum of three months.  In the heart of Jalisco, Mexico, lies the world's most perfect soil and climate for growing Weber Blue Agave. Azunia Tequila starts with only perfectly aged Weber Blue Agave, which grows harmoniously for 8 - 10 years in their sun-drenched fields surrounding the small town of Amatitan.  Each agave plant receives naturally produced nutrients from the fertile volcanic earth and a regime of seasonal weather."

Try some today, you can contact Jim Riley and Kirk Gaither of Intersect Beverage Partners if your favorite restaurant or bar does not carry it.

Poinsettia Bowl on December 23, 2009, again the Utah Utes of the Mountain West Conference win a bowl game, their ninth consecutive bowl game win.  It came at the hands of a PAC 10 team, represented by the California Bears in Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California with a score of 37 -27.  (Interesting fact: I was physically at the Poinsettia Bowl last year watching BSU vs. TCU, and they meet again this year - center stage at Fiesta Bowl.)  Once again the Utes come up big, just as they did last year against Alabama, winning 31 -17 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans against a top five nationally ranked team.  Keep in mind that Utah was also the original Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Buster and paved the way for Boise State University Broncos to play and win in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.  So far two Mountain West teams have beaten two PAC 10 teams.  The Mountain West Conference should, without a doubt be included in the BCS.  While they're at it, include the WAC - Western Athletic Conference.

Since it's Christmas I will mention Tee Shirts, t-shirts, tshirts, t shirts for sale: Featuring the World famous Women's International Fishing Team - The 'Fish n Chicks' with the My Bad Tequila website on the back. http://shop.mybadtequila.com/

Also, thank You for the many comments and compliments on my personal Facebook and Email for the Blog of 'Christmas Story in Idaho.'  A couple of Dudes told me it brought tears to their eyes and one fellow said, "Man, why did you make me Weep?"

Tonight I share a personal Christmas story that took place at childhood; however, it is one of the most memorable Christmas Eves for me.  It was a cold, dreary, snowy late afternoon on December 24th, 1974; all five boys and their mother were wearing layers of clothing to keep warm in their 12 x 60 foot mobile home.  Blankets were strewn on the couch, where we all bundled together to stay warm on that Holiday evening.  No gifts, no heat, no candy canes were in the house, but we did have joy, laughter, love, cookies and hot tea to help give us warmth, (oh, and we had potatoes, lot of potatoes).  My brothers and I sang Christmas carols and tried to console our Mother in telling her we did not need any presents as we had each other, a home, and a GOD that loved us.

Suddenly we became quiet as an unexpected car pulled in front of our trailer house with the sliding glass door that was partially frozen shut and had ice build up on the lower half of the glass.  The six of us peered out at the lady who stepped out of the four door gray sedan covered in bright red from head to foot with hat, gloves, heavy coat and black boots, we watched intensely as she opened the trunk of her car and pulled out a large green canvas military style bag. Immediately we started working on loosening up the door to let our unknown guest into our home.  With canvas bag slung over her shoulder, she climbed the wooden steps to our humble abode.

Our guest once in the our house, asked if we were the Austin Family?  Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes came the replies from five curious boys, awaiting to see what was in the large green bag.  The lady looked at my mother, then spoke these words, "Well, I am with the Salvation Army and we received information that your family could not afford gifts for Christmas, so I have brought gifts of toys and clothes donated for you."  The Angel of a woman had barely finished her introduction, when my mother replied quite harshly "We do not accept Charity!"  The Salvation Army woman began to explain further that it was not considered Charity, but my Mother continued her vehement stance "that this family would not accept these gifts" and she added "Thank You for coming."  The lady picked up the bag, again slung it over her shoulder and headed back into the cold.  Our Mother turned and saw five distressed looking young men that would have a hard time singing any more Christmas Carols that evening and she hung her head. She then slid open the door and called out to the lady as stoic as possible, "Please come back in, each of my boys can choose one item each," she then looked at me, smiled and said "go help the lady carry the bag."

Five young boys squealed with pleasure, the oldest at fourteen, the youngest at seven years of age, the other three in between.  "The Helper of Santa" or "The Christmas Angel", she was called many a great name that evening,  She from the Salvation Army came into the house with a huge smile and gently opened the "Santa Claus Sack" and put all the contents onto the linoleum floor, we carefully analyzed each item as if they were diamonds, jades, pearls, gold, and sterling silver.  I knew the instant I saw it leave the bag, what gift was mine, a great looking used leather baseball mitt.  I put that leather McGregor ball glove so finely stitched and broke in on my left hand and it fit perfectly.  I do not remember what my 4 Brothers chose that beautiful Christmas Eve, but I do remember all of them being as pleased and thankful with their gifts as was I with mine.  I looked at my Mother with more Love than I had ever known for her, knowing that She had made the choice of bringing joy to her sons over her strong sense of pride.  Mother had suffered humiliation as a Human Being and Woman but had triumphed as a Mother of Goodness.

The youngest sibling of the five boys was still able to believe in Santa Claus as we concocted a story that the Lady was a friend of St. Nicholas and she was helping him out that night as he was so busy with other children's deliveries around the world.  We would celebrate three more Christmas Eves and Days together as a family before the youngest sibling was taken from us in this world to be an Angel in Heaven.  Little Steve Austin, the 'Six Million Dollar Boy,' (his nickname) was lucky, he still believed in Santa Claus when his life ended.

The next Christmas that rolled around in December after his death, not was heard a Christmas tune in the Austin household; all of us were still greiving, we never got over not having our littlest brother asking questions about Santa Claus, his elves, his reindeer and the North Pole.  It took me tens of years to again enjoy the Christmas Holiday, it was my least favorite time of year.  Once again, I have the Christmas Spirit and am thankful for all that I have, most of all for My Family and for My Friends.

This story is dedicated to my Dear, Dear Mother !

Special Thanks to the Salvation Army (still my favorite Charity).

My heart goes out to Noah Biorkman's Family and Friends, this will be a tough Christmas for each of them.

Let us put the "Christ" back into Christmas.  If Christianity is not your religion, I mean no disrepect, but it is the way I believe and this is my Blog to write my stories, my feelings and my beliefs.  I hope each of you continue to read my Blogs.  I respect all other religions that have regard for human life and human feelings. I enjoy the Earth being so different, that is why it is such a joy to travel to strange and unfamiliar Worlds.  May God Bless Us all this Holiday Season and throughout the New Year of 2010.

Tequila Time - Sol de Mexico make 3 great tasting Premium Tequilas from 100% agave - Blanco Tequila, Reposado Tequila and Anejo Tequila. Ask for it by name!

Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada put another nail in the coffin of the BCS Bowl Series with step child conference "Mountain West Conference" Brigham Young University Cougars manhandling the Oregon State Beavers of the PAC 10 in the "City of Sin."  This adds more fire to pleas from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and the Mountain West Conference of belonging to the BCS Bowl Championship Series in the future. Added thorns are the #6 Boise State University Broncos and #4 TCU Horned Frogs playing in the Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in the Grand Canyon State of Arizona.  Sorry Lou Holtz, you can't keep it the "good ol boys club" forever.

Brittany Murphy, Tequila vs. Mescal, Monday Night Football

?Que Pasa Compadres de MY BAD TEQUILA?

Brittany Murphy RIP, surprisingly died December 20, 2009 at 32 years young of age.  The Los Angeles, California Fire Department was dispatched at 8:00 am to Brittany's home where she had collapsed in her bathroom.  Her family and husband, Mr. Simon Monjack a British screenwriter of whom Brittany had married just two years earlier in May of 2007 in a private Jewish ceremony.  Another Hollywood star dies before her or his time; an autopsy was preformed today - December 21, 2009 to determine cause of death.  According to the coroner on duty "it appears to be natural" referring to Miss Murphy's death.

Brittany was born on November 10. 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia and starred in such films as "Clueless," "Girl Interrupted" and "Riding in Cars with Boys" along with dozens of other films.  She was also the voice of Luanne Platter of the animated series "King of the Hill."  Brittany gave her mother constant credit for her on film success; her mother raised her in Edison, New Jersey and then to Los Angeles so that Brittany could pursue her dream of becoming an on screen actress.  My Bad Tequila will be following this story closely as we admired her talent as an actress and singer.

Tequila Time: Quite often I am asked about Mescal vs. Tequila; what is the difference? are they the same? which tastes better?  Today I tackle this task of Tequila vs. Mescal.  First and greatest difference is that some Mescal brands have "a worm" inside their bottles.  The reason for that, is that prehispanic cultures within Mexico had an ancient belief that aphrodisiac powers.  My belief is that Mescal messed you up so bad that your clothes came off as a result of wanting sex, so in a way the old belief is true - it was an aphrodisiac.  Why the worm?  These worms live in the Agave plants and are hand picked during the monsoon or rainy season.  They are stored in the large mescal vats or barrels and then sorted and placed into bottles towards the end of the bottling process.  Like mescal, the worm is an acquired taste.  I am nearly there in acquiring a taste for agave worm, after years of hard liver practice.  This is the end of the lesson; on another day I will go into more differences, at least now you know mescal has the worm in the bottle and Tequila does not.  My advice = drink Tequila and save Mescal for the college frat boys and bachelor parties, times like those are when a worm may come in handy.

Monday Night Football on ESPN tonight featured Eli Manning and the New York Giants kicking the team of Obama and Congress's Washington Redskins in the Capital City.  I believe the Washington and Lincoln Monuments were embarrassed tonight by the Redskins horrendous performance.  The New York Giants showed why they have won a Super Bowl in the last couple of years as little brother Manning is becoming quite the NFL star. Only 1 week left of regular season football.  I do need to congratulate my Amigos - the Arizona Cardinals in winning their division two straight years.  Way to lead them Mr. Kurt Warner.  Will they return to the Super Bowl?

Amy Adams, Cabo Wabo Tequila, Saints - ain't undefeated

Hola Amigos, Lo siento for being away for a couple of days, but we're back and have lots to Blog and Write about.

Starting with the defeat of the previously undefeated New Orleans Saints, I too like many fans wanted to see them cruise through the year undefeated as a way to get back at that wicked Hurricane Katrina. It was not to be as Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys (are they really America's team?) handed Drew Brees and gang their first defeat of the 16 game season. Fourteen wins in a row after being in the basement part of the league in recent years is an outstanding accomplishment. Salud a New Orleans Saints. Win another 3 in a row and we'll be seeing you guys in Miami, Florida at the Super Bowl. And, yes I know Indianapolis Colts are still undefeated - I can hear my nephew Tommie screaming from the top of his lungs to me from Carmel, Indiana - "What about us, what about the Colts!" By the way, Tommie & Ashley have a fun cruise on your leave from serving our country in the military - gracias TA.

Back to the start of the alphabet - Amy Adams is a great choice - AA. Miss Amy Lou Adams born in Italy to American parents on August 20, 1974. Another great person was born on that day David A.; however, a few years earlier. Amy's dad was in the military and that's the reason she was born on Italian soil. She has starred in many films and starred in Disney's "Enchanted" that was a box office success in 2007, she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her portrayal of Giselle. I have to admit, I know of the movie, but I have not watched it - perhaps "Some Day Over the Rainbow." Amy's latest roles have included working opposite Meryl Streep in "Julie & Julia" which she performed as the writer Julie Powell while Streep did another quality job as Julia Childs. A movie that I do want to see Amy Adams in, is "Amelia Earhart." "Amelia Earhart" is now playing at theaters near you.

Tequila Time - can't seem to stay clear of Cabo Wabo Tequila, as Cabo Wabo Facebook asked for photos of their fans drinking the Tequila made famous by Red Rocker - Sammy Hagar. I had to post as I have a huge gallon plus jug of the Reposado. Special hola to Cabo Diablo, he's been ignoring MY BAD TEQUILA lately, must have gotten ahold of some bad agave. Cabo Wabo Cantina can be found in Cabo San Lucas at the tip of the Baja in Mexico, at Harvey's in Stateline, Nevada - right next to Tahoe, in Las Vegas, Nevada and the latest in St. Louis, Missouri - home of Budweiser and the traveling Clydesdale Horses. In fact, my good friend Sammy is making a concert appearance at his newest location for the Gateway to the West City and its residents. Kurt P., you need to go home to St. Louis for this event - leave Wilmington, Delaware for a couple of days to see the fam and give your mother a big hug.

Well, that's all I have since you're probably not going to order a Tee Shirt, t-shirt, tshirt, t shirt or R U? http://shop.mybadtequila.com Warning - Santa Claus is watching you !

Nike Social Responsibility, Tiger Woods, Arizona Cardinals

12/15/2009

Hola Amigos!

Tonight we Blog about something serious called Social Responsibility, the culprit - Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon.  The Reason - hanging onto Tiger Woods aka Eldrick Woods, PGA golfer sensation.  By this time, I'm sure there are few people in the free world who has not heard of his transgressions and golfing feats.  I'm not saying let's cast stones at Tiger, we've all sinned but we also don't go around toting an image of perfection and act as a spokesperson collecting millions of dollars and influencing hundreds of thousands of consumers, many of them adolescents.  How can we improve our morals here in the United States when companies such as Nike, Inc. continue to hire and pay big dollars to athletes such as Tiger Woods no matter what he or she may have done.  A school teacher has an affair or does something immoral and she or he loses his job almost immediately.  A salesperson does an immoral act and they are usually dismissed on the spot.  A police officer, a fireman, an accountant, a banker, a truck driver, delivery person, store clerk or management does something immoral and they are fired.  The list goes on and on.

Shame on Phil Knight, an Oregon Duck alumni, co-founder of Nike and now Chairman of Board of Directors.  Phil Knight is not only hurting his namesake, his company, but also any alumni, teachers and students that are apart of the great tradition at the University of Oregon and Stanford Graduate School of Business; as he is a well known alum and has donated millions of dollars to both educational institutions.  The University of Oregon's Football Team will be representing the Oregon Ducks in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl on New Years Day, the beginning of 2010.  Phil, don't overshadow all the good you've done.  DO the Right Thing - as your slogan says JUST DO IT !  Shame on Mark Parker - President & CEO of Nike, Inc.  Shame on Charlie Denson - President of Nike Brands.  Stand up for what is right. Gatorade and Accenture took the right move and for that I wish them continued prosperity with their companies and products.  Buick lucked out and perhaps saw the writing on the wall, dismissing Tiger a few months back as their prominent spokesperson.

Can a small group of individuals such as You and I make a difference on what a large international conglomerate will do?  I don't know, but I'm going to try and find out; all of Your Help is needed hugely.  The only way we can do this is by trying to reach enough concerned citizens by email in encouraging them to boycott Nike Products and by us not purchasing any Nike Products.  Whether it be tennis shoes, clothing, gear, tennis balls, golf balls anything bearing the logo of Nike.  If you want to cut and paste this Blog and email it to your friends and family, I not only give you permission, I strongly encourage it.  Let us get the word out that America is tired of large firms and companies not caring about morality and how the wrong spokespersons can affect our Younger Generation and Generations to come.

Also, if you feel strongly one way or the other, please respond with your comments and if no strong vulgarity is included I will post them for all to see, read and ponder upon.

I will pass on any further additions to the Blog, as I take this subject before me very serious.  And too, I am upset at my Arizona Cardinals for their display of football on the national stage of Monday Night Football.  However, I still love them Red Birds - Warner and Fitzgerald.

Monday Night Football, Evaga Reposado Tequila, Danica Patrick - GoDaddy.com

?Que Tal Compadres de My Bad Tequila?

Monday Night Football is what's happenin in my household and Sports Bars around the United States, especially the Western States where the Arizona Cardinals can clinch the NFC West Division and again become back to back champs of said division.  We need Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald to again have an outstanding game.  The San Francisco 49ers (forty niners) have a decent team and beat us in Glendale at the University of Phoenix Stadium earlier this year.  Coached by Mike Singletary is almost enough to win games in itself, but he'll need a little help from Alex Smith and Frank Gore, this is not your Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice team.

I'm calling it American Football tonight for my European and Mexican Amigos.  I know, most of the rest of the world could care less, although there is an NFL (National Football League) following in the United Kingdom.  This I saw first hand in England when playing for the Staffordshire Stallions in Stoke-on-Trent.  There were 10 universities that made up an American Football College League and two Americans are allowed to start on each team.  My good University of Phoenix connection - Matt B. & I were the fortunate Yankees to get to play with some fun Blokes from England and then drink pints of beer with our teammates and competitors afterward.  More times than not, we were covered with mud, see photos on website facebook of Rico Austin or My Bad Tequila.

Ok, let's talk about an attractive hot, sultry, fast on the track, the Miss Danica Patrick, only female winner of a Indy Car Race - the Indy Japan 300 in 2008.  Danica Sue Patrick was born March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin and raised in Roscoe, Illinois.  She has stormed the racing scene with the highest finish ever in the Indy 500 at third place in 2009 and she has led the field in this race for several laps. She races for the Andretti Autosport Team, a team that is controlled by racing legend Mario Andretti; of whom I met Mario and son Michael at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas and he autographed a mouse pad for me.   Danica has posed for the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated and she was photographed by Playboy for an interview that she gave; slow down big boys she was not nude but did show some skin and cleavage wearing a white and black very open, short dress while leaning on Firestone Tires.  Are you mechanics and car buffs hot yet? Danica is also a spokesperson for the GoDaddy.com Go Daddy organization of whom I am also affiliated with.  Alright, I'm not a spokesperson but I'm a writing person for Go Daddy as my website is purchased through them and their technical support is at my beck and call.  Thanks GoDaddy.com and Bob Parsons - CEO of Go Daddy, what a terrific job you have done with this organization, bringing it up as your brainchild.

Tequila Time - Let's drink some Evaga Reposado Tequila with Danica Patrick.  Did you know Evaga is Agave spelled backwards?  Well now U do, thanks to MY BAD TEQUILA.

Feliz Domingo Amigos de My Bad Tequila,

Big mistake, missed Y; why - "because we love you" as the Mickey Mouse Club members would say, and because we actually put the letter Z before letter Y.  To think I used to be able to recite the alphabet backwards, but still my life is better than Tiger Woods' life right now.  News Flash: "Fox News and CNN have reported that Elin Nordegren moved to the top of the money list on the PGA Tour yesterday after 'beating" the world's number one golfer.  The news came after the world's former number one golfer inadvertently played the wrong hole......." Jay Leno, Conan O'brien and David Letterman are having a lot of fun at Eldrick Woods expense.  Jay said that "Tiger's wife Elin is a 19 - that is a 10 with a nine iron."  David stated that "he wished Tiger would quit calling him, asking for advice."  Seems that Tiger was not as squeaky clean as he pretended and several of his competing PGA golfers and members are finally telling all.  I hope and trust Mr. Phil Mickelson will not say anything.  Phil, just let your golf game do the talking and take over the number one spot on the PGA Tour.  Everyone knows that Phil and El Tigre (known in the Latin American Countries) never got along and it all makes alot more sense now, Phil is a family guy and Tiger is a Tiger guy.

Since we messed up and missed Y, we are going to treat the missed letter to two subjects: Yanni & Yankees

Yanni, born Yiannis Hrysomallis in Kalamata, Greece back on November 14, 1954, he taught himself the piano, keyboard and how to compose.  Yanni was a competitive swimmer in Greece and set a national record in the 50-meter freestyle competition.  When he turned 18 years of age he attended the University of Minnesota and joined a local group called Chameleon which toured the midwest states.  After earning his B.A. in psychology he moved to California to pursue a life in music.  In 1994, with the release of "Yanni Live at the Acropolis" which was the second best-selling music video of all time, only behind Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video.  Yanni's autobiography "Yanni in Words," co-authored by David Rensin, memoir which includes childhood life in Greece, attending college in Minnesota and his nine year relationship with actress Linda Evans.

Tequila Time - let's take a break from the letter Y and discuss some Cabo Wabo, made famous by my great friend, the Red Rocker, Mr. Sammy Hagar, Chickenfoot Band Guy, the list goes on and on.  Cabo Wabo what a smooth tequila that should not be used just on great tasting Margaritas, but also should be sipped in a sniffer.  If you don't believe me, ask the Tequila Whisperer what he thinks and he'll set you straight with his expert knowledge.  Blue Agave is where it's at - Cabo Wabo, be sure and ask for it by name.

Yankees, also referred to as the New York Yankees, Babe Ruth's team.  It is a professional baseball team in the Major Baseball League aka MLB and based in the borough of The Bronx.  This franchise has won 27 World Series Championships and 40 American League Pennants. and have had some of the most celebrated players in all of baseball history with The Babe, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Roger Maris and Yogi Berra.  The Yankees won the World Series again this year so Boston Red Sox fans are going to be miserable until opening day of 2010. All ready looking forward to seeing the Boys of Summer once again.

Pepe Zavada - the most interesting man in the world, Corralejo Tequila at AC party, Phoenix Tequila Fest

12/12/2009

Hola Amigos,

We have finally made it through the alphabet - letter Z of which we will celebrate with the most interesting man in the world - Pepe Zavala, not the guy in the Dos Equis commercials.  Pepe's amigos have a endearing name "El Astro de Jaripeo" for his unique versatility with musical equestrian art and his true passion for horses . Pepe started his career more than 20 years ago and during that span has recorded over 10 albums / CDs and has treated audiences with his musical equestrian show in several Mexican cities and in western states such as California, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada.  Pepe was born in Mexico but now resides in Southern California and is available to book for rodeos, carnivals and private parties.

Pepe Zavada is affiliated with Z Tequila, that alone makes him the most interesting man in the world; add to that, Pepe speaks five languages and has visited more than 100 countries.

MY BAD TEQUILA was invited to the wife's company Christmas party at A.C. and fellow Tequila Aficionado Dan brought in a nice bottle of Corralejo Blanco Tequila to help us in our celebration of the Christmas, Hanukkah and The New Year of 2010 which has to be much better than 2009.  I can not wait for 2009 to die and hopefully never be remembered again; as it was the year an undeserving Nobel Peace Prize recipient accepted the award and then talked of more war at same event.  Kind of Ironic in acceptance speech - Peace is not equal to War!  2009 was the Year Tiger Woods let down his Swedish wife and lots of golf fans, Patrick Swayze RIP, Farrah Fawcett RIP, Michael Jackson RIP and a lot of other famous people called it quits with life.

Getting back to Tequila Corralejo Blanco - "Blanco comes straight from our copper pot still and is bottled unaged.  Don Leonard call Blanco 'The Truth' because it captures the authentic character of the Blue Weber Agave that all our Tequilas are made from."
Color: Pure/Clear
Aroma: White, Pink Peppercorns, Herbal Undertones
Taste: Agave Flavor, Spearmint & Yummy - Thanks Dan for the Tequila, Thank You to Doug, John, and Joe for the A.C. party (AC does not stand for air conditioner) yesterday afternoon.

Today, I headed out to downtown Phoenix to take in the 1st Annual Phoenix Tequila Fest at the US Airways but a bad tempered, idiotic as-ho-e security guard changed my plans.  My $35 entrance ticket bought, I went to enter through main door and this a-whole will not let me bring in my camera and some literature, so I turned right around, demanded my dinero back and drove home to Scottsdale and broke into my own collection of anejos, reposados, and blancos.  It was a shame as I was looking forward to trying some new agave Tequilas and sharing the great ones with My Bad Tequila Amigos - by Blog.  I do hope some of the participating manufacturers and distributors read this and have a talk with that burly, no good so and so.  I'm sure we all have our Security Guard stories.  All I can say is Willie Nelson, please add a verse "Mama don't let your Babies grow up to be Security Guards, they'll frisk you, they'll take your cameras and gold, Oh Mamas don't let your Babies grow up to wear Security Badges."  la la la ta da

Maybe they will let me bring my camera in to the 2nd Annual Phoenix Tequila Fest, for all I know cameras were most likely allowed this year, just a security guard had a corncob up his .......

T-Shirt , tee shirt, tshirt , t shirt sales need to climb upward for the Holiday Season.  Help me out Amigos "Baby needs a Christmas present."  Follow us on Twitter = mybadtequila

Xun Zi, Dos Equis Cerveza and Lippy - Tequila Whisperer

12/9/2009

Hola Amigos Mios,

X marks the spot, Xun Zi was born in China with the name of Xun Kuang, lived and died 312 - 230 BC.  He was a Chinese Confucian philosopher who contributed to one of the "Hundred Schools of Thought."  Xun Zi believed and taught that man's inborn tendencies need to be curbed through education and ritual.  He believed that ethical norms had been invented to rectify mankind.  He was one of the most sophisticated thinkers of his time; he was the teacher of Li Si and Han Fei Zi.

Here are three of his many quotes, I personally only like one of them, one I dislike completely as it shows humans and humanity of being innately bad and evil.  The last quote, well I'm still undecided. two show humans and humanity of being innately bad and evil.

1. "I once tried standing up on my toes to see far out in the distance, but I found that I could see much farther by climbing to a high place." this makes a great deal of sense to me;
2. "Human nature is evil, and goodness is caused by intentional activity." - bad quote
3. "A person is born with desires of the eyes and ears, and a liking for beautiful sights and sounds. If he gives way to them, they will lead him to immorality and lack of restriction, and any ritual principles and propriety will be abandoned." Okay, I can live with this one, sort of like temptation of Adam and Eve.

Tequila Time - Lippy, The Tequila Whisperer has invited me onto his show tomorrow evening at 7:00 PST for his LIVE tastings that he hosted every Thursday night.  You can see Lippy's website by entering http://tequilawhisperer.wordpress.com/ or you may follow him on Twitter - tequilawhsperer - notice there is no i in whsperer. You may also become a fan on Facebook.

Dos Equis is Spanish for XX (Two Xs), it is also a very fine Mexican Cerveza and has great TV commercials of "The Most Interesting Man in the World."

Van Halen, BCS picks, Arizona Cardinals

Amigos, as our first weekend in December comes closer to an end, Van Halen makes for a good topic band as my good friend Sammy Hagar was once an integral part of their history.

Van Halen named after 2 of the brothers that came over from Amsterdam, Holland aka The Netherlands when young boys - Eddie Van Halen & Alex Van Halen.  This band formed in Pasadena, California in 1972; as of 2007 have sold 90 million albums worldwide and have had the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.  During the 1980s they also had more Billboard Hot 100 hits than any other heavy metal or hard rock band. This band has not been without it's controversy among their lead singers of David Lee Roth during the years of 1974 - 85 and then reunion 2006 - 2009, the hits during this era of - Van Halen I were "Jump" and "Panama."  Sammy Hagar, my Favorite of the 3 rotating lead singers was with Van Halen II during 1985 - 1996 after leaving Montrose and reunioned up 2003 - 2005 with hits such as "I can't drive 55" and "Why can't this be Love?".  Gary Cherone was during the Van Halen III era from 1996 - 1999.  Gary Cherone was the only one of the former three lead singers that left at good terms.  Both Hagar aka "Red Rocker" & Roth aka "Diamond Dave" had words with Eddie Van Halen upon their departures both privately and in public appearances.  What is amazing is the both of these great flamboyant lead singers rejoined Eddie and brother Alex after such hard and bitter arguments.

David Lee Roth just recently married again and as soon as Wolfgang Van Halen which is Eddie's son graduates high school, they are back on tour.  Wolfgang replaced longtime bassist Michael Anthony that has now rejoined with Sammy Hagar and his new band Chickenfoot which also stars Joe Satriani aka Satch and Chad Smith, former drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  I was fortunate enough to see them perform live in concert at Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona where Cabo Wabo was served for a price.

Sammy Hagar recently sold 80% of his Cabo Wabo Tequila for $80 million smackaroos in 2007, showing what an astute businessman the "Red Rocker" really is.  He still owns Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico that helped market the brand. Being a Tequila Hombre myself, I have a unique respect for Sammy and someday hope to have a partnership of some means with him.  "Donald Trump has nothing on Sammy Hagar in the business arena" - Rico Austin;

BCS got it right this year with BCS (Bowl Championship Series) Bowls: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas Longhorns for the Championship in Pasadena, California.  My favorite matchup and team, Boise State University Broncos vs. TCU Horned Frogs in my state of Arizona at University of Phoenix in Glendale, Arizona.  Special thanks to Great Friend Matt B. who offered last night to purchase tickets for My Bad Tequila if Boise State Broncos were invited to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.  His offer was made at his home in Chandler, AZ last night while watching his Nebraska Cornhuskers play the Texas Longhorns for the Big 12 Championship, when he still had hope of the upset, ALMOST happened - super game.  Thanking Matt in advance.  Lucky for him, his employer is the "University of Phoenix" so I'm hoping to be on the field once again with my Broncos.  Sugar Bowl picks were Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Florida Gators (don't think Tim Tebow gets the Heismann) in New Orleans, Louisiana - that could spell trouble for one of those teams or both as there is a lot of fun and trouble to see in Na Orlans!  Rose Bowl will host PAC 10 Champion - Oregon Ducks (of which Boise State manhandled earlier this year) vs the always over rated Ohio Buckeyes, champions of the Big 10. Orange Bowl matchups pit Iowa Hawkeyes vs Georgia Tech in the Miami, Florida area.  Lots of great matchups.  My picks are the teams that are mentioned first in each of these matchups.  Can't wait for all these Bowl games.

Arizona Cardinals and Mr. Kurt Warner (age 38) beat Minnesota Vikings and Mr. Bret Favre (age 40) tonight on NFL Sunday Night Football in Glendale, AZ, same arena that will host the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.  This was the battle of the two most mature Quarterbacks in the NFL. If the Cardinals play like they did tonight, expect them to show up again in the Super Bowl.

?Que Pasa Amigos?

"Uncle Sam - The United States of America, we need a wake up call, we need manufacturing, we need laborers, we need to become a nation, not dependent upon service but upon action.  I was once an FFA member (Future Farmer of America) and we had a creed:
"I believe in the future of farming with a faith born not of faith but of deeds ...... "

"What has happened to US as a nation?"  "Why are we not saying the pledge of allegiance in our grade schools, in our middle schools and in our high schools?"

"I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Rico Austin - " I love the world, the citizens of the world; but am tired of the terrorism and the persons who want to destroy life as we know it and as we live it.  We must all stand together in this fight against terrorism and destruction; it affects each of us, our families and our friends from each nation and border."

"I am not a Greek or an Athenian, but a Citizen of the World!" - Socrates  "This proverb or testament from Socrates says it best, we are all basically the same and want to live and let live.  Why let radical extremists run and ruin our country and our world?"

"I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." - Francis Bellamy, August 1892 .

Tanya Tucker, Tequila, Tiger, Civil War Game

12/3/2009

Buenos Noches Amigos,

Tonight Miss Tanya Tucker takes the spotlight, as she did with her first hit "Delta Dawn" at age 13 in 1972.  Tanya Denise Tucker was born October 10, 1958 in Seminole, Texas.  She was one of the few child performers to grow into adulthood and continue to keep her audience.  Another great hit among her many was in 1973 "What's Your Mama's Name?"

Tanya spent most of her early childhood in Wilcox, Arizona, and the only station they could receive out there was Country Music.  The family moved to Saint George, Utah and Tanya auditioned for the movie Jeremiah Johnson, she received a small part.  Tanya's first singing break came in Phoenix at the Arizona State Fair as she auditioned for a chance to sing with Judy Lynn.  "What's Your Mama's Name" was Tanya's first number one hit in the Spring of 1973.

Miss Tanya Tucker was one of few and the best known female Country Singers to be categorized as an "Outlaw" in the Outlaw Country Movement.  Other Outlaw artists were Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, David Allen Coe and of course Hank Williams Jr.  Tanya claimed that she "was the wildest thing out there.  I could stay up longer, drink more and kick the biggest ass in town. “I was on the ragged edge."   She also made the gossip headlines with her romantic ventures which included Merle Haggard (her senior of 21 years), Miami Vice actor, Don Johnson, the late Andy Gibb, RIP, and then the on, off, on again, off again relationship with Country and Western Star "The Rhinestone Cowboy" singer, Mr. Glen Campbell.  She moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 after their final break and began to abuse alcohol and cocaine.  Tanya has once again proved herself worthy as she again tops the Billboard Charts.  Go Wild Girl!!

Tequila Time is anytime, and any brand of Tequila, especially for Mr. Eldrick Tont Woods, aka Tiger, the golfer.  He is struggling to find a friend in the PGA as Jesper Parnevik blasted Tiger and said "that he hoped Elin would use a driver next time on Tiger instead of a 3 iron."  Jesper and his wife feel responsible for introducing the young Elin Nordegren to Eldrick when she was a nanny or au pair for the Parneviks.  Lots of people have lost respect for Tiger, I lost my respect for him about 10 years ago when he did not attend Payne Stewart's Memorial.  When questioned why he, Tiger was the only notable PGA player that did not attend, he gave the response that it would be too difficult to concentrated on his game.  Guess what, Tiger won that particular tournament as his fellow PGA colleagues were paying their respects to a 3 time Major Champion and Great Human Being - Payne Stewart.

When Tiger was a no show, I knew at that time, Mr. Eldrick Woods only cared about one thing - Numero Uno,  Himself, Tiger.  Again, Nike is not my favorite company as they now have 2 poor representatives - Michael Vick and Tiger Woods.  Now, I must step down from my soap box as I too have transgressed and sinned, I am not perfect either but I too must be held accountable for when I screw up.  Only difference, is that I don't make millions and am not well known, but if I pulled that same sh-t, my wife would come after me with a golf club as well.  Tiger, your lack of privacy comes with the territory.  I liked what Jesper said "maybe Tiger should not just do it" referring to the famous "just do it" slogan by Nike.

You may not agree with me and if Tiger is still your favorite golfer, great; I understand completely as I still like and admire Mr. John Daly and a lot of people do not.  That is the greatest thing about our Country is that we may all have our opinions and may speak freely and openly.  Thank You to our Soldiers that help preserve that right for us and protect us from terrorists that do not respect mankind or humanity.  "Freedom doesn't come Free."

Speaking of Nike, their home state of Oregon is showcasing on ESPN "The Civil War Game" between the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers in Eugene, Oregon for a trip to the Rose Bowl as the PAC 10 Champions.  Winner plays on New Year's Day against Big 10 Champion Ohio Buckeyes in Pasadena, California.

If you're still in the mood, we have fish n chick tee shirts, lady pirate t shirts, t-shirts for sale @ http://shop.mybadtequila.com

Sandra Bullock, Aficionado Tequila, Seattle Slew, Tiger - Triple Bogey Action

12/2/2009

Hola Amigos Mios,

Sandra Bullock is the lady of the hour with her new movie "The Blind Side" a football movie that I have not seen yet.  Sandra Annette Bullock was born July 26, 1964 in Manassas, Virginia.  Sandra lived in Nuremberg until age 12 and is fluent in German and studied ballet.  She was cheerleader and was in high school theater.  She married motorcycle builder and "Monster Garage" host Jesse James on July 16, 2005.  One of my favorite Bullock films was Speed with Keanu Reeves and The Proposal.  Just this last month of November 2009, Sandra entered into a custody battle over Jesse James child of which he fathered with former porn star Janine Lindemulder.  Bullock & James vs. Lindemulder for Jesse's Baby.  Good Luck Sandra!

Seattle Slew born February 15th, 1974 at Ben Castleman's White Horse Acres Farm near Lexington, Kentucky.  He was named for the city of Seattle, and for the sloughs loggers once used to transport heavy logs.  The spelling of slough was too hard to remember, so the spelling was changed to Slew.  Seattle Slew won the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in 1977, the tenth of eleven horses to accomplish this remarkable feat.  He remains the only horse to win the Triple Crown while undefeated.  The Triple Crown is made up of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, Maryland and then the Belmont Stakes at Elmont, New York.  Seattle Slew went to the pasture in the sky on May 7th, 2002, RIP.  What a horse!

Tiger Woods is having a triple bogey incident and it doesn't look as if wife Elin is going to give him a free drop.  First bogey - Jamiee Grubbs from Los Angeles, Double Bogey - Rachel Uchitel - New York and his Triple Bogey - Kalika Moquin of Las Vegas.  While wife is in Florida when the little caddies, Tiger has been putting and putting and putting. I must confess that Tiger has spread the wealth around the country with his love; whereas, David Letterman didn't have to leave the building in which he worked.  I think life was easier for David, not having to remember which city he left which lover.  Tiger did however get special treatment from the police department in his nice Florida neighborhood and no charges will be filed against the mother of his children for spousal abuse or swinging a club in an authorized area.  To lighten things up, later in the day, Balloon Boy's Dad and Tiger shared fun stories and were seen golfing and ballooning together.  Best of luck to Tiger and his new best friend - Balloon Boy's Dad.  Special Note: Phil Mickelson does not want to go ballooning with Tiger and will refuse to play golf with Balloon Boy's Dad until after he completes probation.  Phil prefers to stay home with his lovely wife Amy Mickelson and take care of her and his children.
