Boise State Broncos - National Champions?, Fiesta Bowl, Cabo Wabo Tequila
?Que Pasa Compadres?
Can't hardly talk today as I lost my voice somewhere in the University of Phoenix Football Stadium, but I have a Smile on my face that goes on for Miles after witnessing #6 Boise State University Broncos upsetting the #4 ranked Texas Christian University Horned Frogs in the 39th Annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
BSU Bronco fans outnumbered TCU Horned Frog Fans by 3 to 1 in the Stadium and in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area and spent money in the ratio of 10 to 1 in Tempe and Scottsdale, Arizona. Great time was had by most; one of my weekend highlights was to walk across the stage as a former student athlete at Tempe Towne Park near the Lake in the PEP Rally and to shake hands with Boise State Coaching Legend - Mr. Lyle Smith of whom Boise State's field is named in honor of the great Mr. Smith (pretty exciting stuff for a former farm kid aka Rico from Marsing Idaho). Lyle Smith is now 93 years young and was the Head Coach at Boise State College from 1947 - 1967 minus two years of 1950 and 1951 and compiled a 153- 25 -6 winning record which included 4 perfect seasons, 3 of which were his first 3 years as a Head Coach.
Once again Boise State lived up to their hype following with another Fiesta Bowl upset and they now have more Fiesta Bowl wins in the new University of Phoenix Stadium than any other College Football Program at 2 - 0; Lou Holtz was most likely pretty upset at Boise State's upset of TCU Horned Frogs as that man hates BSU and has avowed his hatred for the program several times on ESPN including his latest statement that Boise State still is not there as far as National Championship Status, maybe next year he adds with a crooked smile. Let's see what Lou Baby says next year out of the corner of his mouth when BSU goes undefeated and return back to the Land of the Sun - Phoenix metro area to play in Glendale for the National Championship against possibly Nebraska, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma? Who will BSU meet next year at Bowl time?
If you were at the game in Glendale, share your comments of the game and your experience while visiting the Land of the Sun. MY BAD TEQUILA would love to hear from all of You.

How incredible to be associated with such Football Programs as Oklahoma - winner of 7 National Championships and 42 Football Conference Championships. If you know anything about Football and Tradition then you have to respect the Oklahoma Sooners especially during the Barry Switzer area. I grew up watching Oklahoma Football as my mother was from that Great State of OK.
TEQUILA TIME: Cabo Wabo is the preferred Tequila to celebrate occasions like Boise State winning the Fiesta Bowl. Still awaiting a congratulatory phone call or email from my Amigo - Mr. Sammy Hagar who put Cabo Wabo Tequila and Cantina on the map in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and elsewhere in the World. I'm sure Sammy was dressed in Orange and Blue during the game yesterday as that is traditional wear for the Red Rocker when BSU is playing in a Bowl Game.
